Bert Henderson, Tommy Shannon, Bobby King et Bobby Kennedy ont triomphé dans leurs classes respectives lors des finales présentées aux Régates de Gananoque (Ontario), dimanche après-midi.
L’épreuve ultime de la classe Grand Prix a donné lieu à une confrontation spectaculaire entre Brandon Kennedy à bord du «Team 8 Cancer» et Bert Henderson au volant du «Steeler» GP-777. Après plus de deux tours côte à côte, Henderson a distancé son adversaire pour l’emporter dans le bateau champion de 2017, qui avait été endommagé en début de saison à Cambridge (Maryland).
Marc Théorêt a pris le 3erang aux commandes du «Grand Prix Valleyfield» GP-444 et Mathieu Daoust, gagnant de l’épreuve consolation dans le «Miss Cléopâtre» GP-9, a suivi en 4e place.
Du côté de la Formule 2500, Bobby King a poursuivi sur sa lancée à bord du «Tenacity» F-92 et il s’est approprié la finale pour rester invaincu en 5 départs cette saison. Le pilote du Michigan a devancé par moins de 3 secondes le «Miss Jesel» F-3 de Dylan Runne et Tom Huganir (F-69) a terminé 3e.
La classe 2,5 litres a encore procuré une finale excitante aux spectateurs et cette fois-ci, le Campivallensien Tommy Shannon (Pièces d’autos Valleyfield S-4) a eu le meilleur sur son compatriote Derek Demers (Wave Dancer S-44). Philippe-Hervé Cardinal (S-222) a complété le podium pour obtenir son meilleur résultat en carrière et Frédéric Couturier, le vainqueur à Cambridge, a dû se contenter de la 4eposition dans le «Hydroid» S-313.
La classe Hydro 350 a offert plusieurs épreuves serrées durant le week-end mais en finale, Bobby Kennedy a fait cavalier seul au volant du «Penzoil» H-300. Le conducteur de Waterford (Michigan) a vaincu par plus de 5 secondes le «H-13» de Derec Smith et Marc Lecompte, auteur de la plus haute vitesse samedi, s’est assuré du 3erang dans le «H-104.

The final Grand Prix class race resulted in a spectacular confrontation between Brandon Kennedy aboard “Team 8 Cancer” and Bert Henderson at the wheel of the GP-777 “Steeler”. After more than two laps side by side, Henderson overtook his opponent to win in the 2017 championship boat which was damaged early in the season in Cambridge Maryland.
Marc Théorêt finished 3rd in the Grand Prix Valleyfield GP-444 and Mathieu Daoust, winner of the consolation race in “Miss Cleopatra” GP-9 followed in 4th place.
In Formula 2500, Bobby King continued in the “Tenacity” F-92 and made the final to remain undefeated in five starts this season. The Michigan driver was less than 3 seconds ahead of Dylan Runne’s “Miss Jesel” F-3 and Tom Huganir (F-69) finished third.
The 2.5-liter class gave the spectators an exciting final and this time, Valleyfield resident Tommy Shannon (Valleyfield S-4 Auto Parts) got the best of his fellow countryman Derec Demers (Wave Dancer S-44) . Philippe-Hervé Cardinal (S-222) completed the podium for his best career result and Frédéric Couturier, the winner in Cambridge, had to settle for 4th place in the “Hydroid” S-313.
