the trade is fine. the cap hit's a bit steep. can't imagine hutson's extension is less now.

Makes sense, Montreal doesn't rely on all of their picks anymore and gets the guy they wanted.
I'm very excited as a Habs fan to finally have a legit top 4 right-shot dman locked up, and I think it's a win for both teams. Emil Heineman is also putting together an impressive resume as he has now been apart of trades involving Sam Bennett to Florida, Tyler Toffoli to Calgary, and now Noah Dobson to Montreal.

Dobson was outplayed last year by Tony Deangelo. Let that sink in. Ask an Islanders fan how many times they screamed at the TV watching Dobson. It is rough watching a kid with such upside struggle. I hope he can turn it around. Way too inconsistent for $9.5×8

If the Islanders can get Hagens and Schaeffer, theybhave a pretty good start on a re something.
We overpaid for Dobson, he's a solid defenceman but I wouldn't give up two firsts since we're nowhere near stanley cup contention. I still don't have confidence in Hughes.
As an isles fan, i feel this was a bad trade, think we could have got alot more for dobson (a top 6 winger) and dont know why we kept shopping him on the first place. The only silver lining is that this better be a full rebuild for this to make sense, i want to see alot more veterans traded this season and next.
Did Montreal just shoot themselves in the foot? Feet? Legs? Head? 9.5 M cap hit. Ugghh. They have too many D, they will be looking to move some, again. Forwards not so much. Islanders would trade all 3 firsts for Hagen.

As an Isles fan I think it all depends on how far they can move up in the draft with those two picks and who they come away with if it's not Hagens. I think they'll have to pay a premium to move up seeing as the entire league knows that they are trying to move up to get Hagens.

We now at the moment have a good dman core and depth.. for next season.. and still pieces to move.. not sure how Matheson is taking this trade.. unless someone switches side.. Math be on the 3rd pairing?
Love to get a 5 on 5 goal scorer winger from Buff if we are gonna give Dach another chance at 2C.. I'll give him that chance and he needs to play a whole season.. else Owen or Kap at center get a look/chance..

Cost of Dobson is too high. They could have got two big forwards from pick 16 and 17. There has to be more to it or the habs have lost this trade.
Montreal just needs a legit 2C and they're looking pretty good
Next season some time, when the Habs are playing the Leaves, and are ahead by one goal with around 2 minutes to play in the third period and the Leaves net is empty, I hope the Habs know to keep Dobson on the bench. Because if they do not, the game will be headed to overtime.

Marty will bring out the best in Dobson – he will be joining a much more dynamic team with Hutson, Demidov and a core just entering their prime to name a few. (No offense to NYI fans)
I was kind of hoping the Habs would be tanking one more year for Mckenna… I really feel they are an elite center away from a dynasty but I cannot deny this is ça a great move that makes the team better. I wonder if they move Jayden Struble for some draft capital or possibly for a forward…
Disappointed for CBJ missing out on Dobson, but we will see what happens next.

Heineman will be missed for sure, getting hit by a car slowed him down a lot unfortunately. Very excited to see Dobson in a habs jersey though!

Dobson reminds me a lot of Dougie Hamilton and I'm not a big Dougie fan, from his days in Calgary. Not saying they're not good players but even if they're good you still might want someone else. The Islanders hoped Dobson would be this great PP QB but he never showed signs of being that. Maybe that was the team's fault because their PP has been crummy for years. They hoped Dobson might could help fix that, but he couldn't. In Montreal they have Hutson so they don't have to look for it in Dobson, so he might be a better fit for them than he was for the Island.
