Soon as I heard this rumor, I wasn't sure if this was going to happen. I really shouldn't be questioning Kent Hughes anymore. Guy can cook.
This does pose some very interesting problems for the Habs now. Noah Dobson is a top pair D and I think he and Guhle will be together. Hutson and Reinbacher will be the second pair. Third pair is all up in the air at the moment but that does put Logan Mailloux in an interesting position. I really thought they were going to pair him with Kayden Guhle but it looks like the Habs brass wasn't sure if Mailloux will be able to take that jump as a top D. This does mean that Mailloux could be traded in the future for maybe a 2C or another player.
The top 4 is now set. We know who will be skating with who. The bottom pairing Defense can be whoever. If you want Arber there, he can be there but he will never move up since both Hutson and Dobson are puck moving defenseman. Reinbacher has that potential as well. The fact that Montreal's defense now look pretty stacked is impressive in such a short time.
Kent Hughes just keeps winning. Early rebuild, got to the playoffs this year and now Ivan Demidov is in Canada and now Dobson. Things are moving lightning fast when in the past I was always frustrated with Bergevin doing re-treads of players to stay in the playoffs. I mean look at Detroit and their problems. Montreal wants to stay in the playoffs and they are improving by leaps and bounds.
Wooo!!! Been hoping for this day since last summer, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Absolute fleecin by Hughes. So glad we didn't have to give reinbacher to make it happen. Our top 4 D core is absolutely stacked and is arguably still yearS away from the beginning of its prime years.
Again great show, dobson not really blocking nobody mailloux replaces savard,reinbacher obvious laval, next year mailloux shows some nhl time, value goes up, trade him, reinbacher in = perfect timing no?? 👍
I think Dobson and Guhle could be a dominant pairing for a very long time. Hutson and Reinbacher are basically betrothed. Then Xhekaj and Mailloux. Set for a long time.
