  1. What a terrible trade. 6'4 marshmellow lmao….Mailloux can do better than 39 points. Jake Evans had almost as many points despite getting almost nothing the entire 2nd half lmao. That capital should have been used for a 2C, EPIC FAIL….now Hutson will cost 13-14…so stupid, ZERO need for Dobson

  2. 9.5 million a year im not sure how good he is but thats alot of money for this player???

  3. We can still trade back into the first round if there is a player we really like that slides a bit. 🤔

  4. I like the trade for the Habs. Dobson is a top pairing rh d-man. Players like that don't grow on trees. And he's in the prime of his career and he's locked up for 8 years.
As for what they gave up. I liked Heineman but they have players to replace him. As for the 16th and 17th picks, I would have been happy if they had flipped them to move up into the top 10, but instead they flipped them for a proven top pairing d-man. I'd say that was a good trade. The Habs are in that point of their rebuild where they need more to improve their top end talent rather than building prospects that might be 3-4 years down the road.

  5. If the Habs pick up a blue chip 2C , then , not only should the Habs make the playoffs, but they might also become serious contenders for the cup..

  6. What does this mean for Reinbacher and Mailloux? one extra year in Laval? Struble out?

  7. I understand looking at those fancy analytics given you’ve never seen the guy play but as an islanders fan who watches every single game he sucks in his own end…Sucks. He loses every net front battle and gets boded on the boards. It is extremely frustrating. Also yes he’s a play driver but has some serious bone headed moments exiting the zone. He is just one of those guys that randomly shows all the skill in the world but most of the time isn’t there mentally. It’s a good trade though because of his ceiling and 16 and 17 mean nothing to a team with the 3rd best farm in the league

  8. You guys are nuts, this is a huge gamble for the habs. Dobber is not a 9 mil per year player. 7, maybe. Maybe. But he’s terrible defensively, he sees the ice poorly and has really bad recession making. His best asset is his ability to screen his own goalie. 😂.

If he does go back to a 70 pt per year guy then yea this will be a good deal for ya in the future but the isles have seen enough of him to know it’s not worth taking that chance. Hope it works out for you guys. Happy to see him leave. Just the most frustrating player I’ve ever watched

  9. Don’t think this is a heist, quite fair trade for both, and depending what the islanders do with those picks on draft night, it could be a heist for the islanders

  10. Dobson will now get focused! He looked lost on the ice last year! He had the leverage to go where he wanted! As a courtesy islanders signed him for the agreed price the Habs would pay hence 8 years! 9.5 mill…. He will become more than he ever would with the Islanders simply because Dobson did not want to play for the Islanders! Heineman is underrated and will work great with Gatcomb! 16 n 17 will add to the pool if not traded. Still hoping to add the 3rd , 4 th, or 5 th pick for the Islanders to land Hagens! The Islanders could Deal Barzal to The Hawks or to Utah for a massive package that would land Hagens Plus!

  11. The irony about this is that after writing that SOMETHING BIG is about to happen, they missed the scoop when it did. 😂

  12. For those you used the +/- argument on Andersson, Dobson was -16 last year (I personally don't case, but apparently others think it's a legitimate tool to assess individual performances).
So, to those, what do you think of this trade? (personally, I love it).
    Honestly?

  13. This is for all the isles fans in here saying he can’t play defence … you know that can be learned ! Don’t worry I know with the Habs coaching staff he will be way better on defence starting this year you all will see ! You guys got a bottom 6 forward and two picks that might not even ever play in the nhl … maybe 3 bottom 6 forwards 😂 thanks MD for helping the Habs out I smell a rebuild in NYI

  14. I like the fact they fulfilled one of their priority positions however I thought 2 x 1st round picks and Heineman was a bit high, but they finally broke the cherry.

  15. you put Florian Xhekaj to replace Heinemen its fine with me to be honest and to get Dobson to take Savard place ??? Love it.

  16. Over the last four seasons, Dobson is the 10th defensemen in the NHL in points with 209. At 25, his best years are still ahead. Of course this was a steal. Of all the players drafted in 2018, only five accumulated more points than him so far in their careers. Most first round picks do not even succeed to make a career in the NHL… 17 players drafted in the first round in 2018 are marginal players that accumulated less than 100 points so far. Lamoriello should have retired from hockey more than a decade ago. Islanders' owners failed over the last 35 years, it's a joke, so many first picks, so many stars, but so many bad decisions, such an incapacity to build a winning mentality.

  17. We'll have such a stacked d-squad, it's like the Habs are doing some sort if social experiment or something. I can't recall seeing a team with so many high quality d-men. I am wondering what is the strategy behind that build and how this will help the team producing offensively also, which is very important.

  18. Picks 16 and 17 were Aitcheson and Eklund. Two very good players that we missed out on. They were the 2 best players available regardless if position. Hopefully Dobson pans out for us.
