This is a ROBBERY for the Bruins…

This is a ROBBERY for the Bruins…

this is an absolute robbery for the Boston Bruins they’ve locked up their young and future of this defense Mason Lowry we’re’ll be going over why many people are calling this an overpay and while it is absolutely not we’re also be covering what this has to impact with the other defenseman who need to be signed on this team and where the Bruins defense goes from here ladies and gentlemen we have a lot to break down here in this video of another video coming out later today on a very interesting player but right now we have to focus on the main attraction of this morning Mason Lorai extended with the Boston Bruins before we get into this very very quickly I got to shout you guys out once again your guys support has been absolutely incredible as of late i appreciate everybody watching these videos here during one of the busiest times of the year and we’re on the road to 7K we’re 35 subscribers away ladies and gentlemen everybody who’s watching right now who has not hit the sub button does that right now we will get there there but let’s get straight into this video not waste any more time get over here with the Chris Johnson report mason signs a 2-year extension with the Bruins carrying an AAV of 3.2 million now this is where things get a bit rocky a lot of people are calling this an overpay and I necessarily don’t think it is i think there’s a lot worse that could have happened and we’re going to go here and kind of jump into some of the projections some of what these analytical companies thought he would be making and why it is a little bit higher but why it’s actually better than what it could have been now jumping into the cap projections here for the Bruins in the offseason i want to pull this up before we dive into this this comes from Bruins cap space on Twitter you go and take a look here at the offense and the defense we have now pretty much our entire defense locked up only exception is one right-handed defenseman whether that is Henry Oiharu or not still remains to be determined however I would like Henry Oiharu he would be cheaper than many players here and I do have a list that we’re going to jump into in a little bit here of the right-handed defenseman that are free agents henrioki Aaru really seems to fit that bill especially with the way he played with Nikita Zadorov last year but one thing you may notice right now with that updated Mason Lorai defensive contract is that the defense is making a lot of money and I think that’s where it comes down to why this contract or people are thinking this is an overpay why people are saying that you know although he’s only played one full season and that’s 77 games in that season and people are still saying it may be an overpay i really don’t think it is but when we jump into our projections here on the contract side of things from Scotia stat here you can see that around that number is where he was hovering it’s 300K over really nothing that would really impact the Bruins significantly especially with the cap states they currently have and being able to look at the comparables you know you have guys Nick Heg Timothy Little JJ Moser Will Borgan Mason Far you know those guys to me at least are significantly worse than Mason Lai so you put that into comparison I think it is a a very good contract and one that makes a lot of sense when it comes down to price and age and uh all of that but when you go and look at it a three-year deal which is the projection at 2.9 million a two-year at 2.3 it kind of gives you the idea of uh you more years more money as you would normally see but where he’s a player that’s so young it won’t it don’t really jump up that significantly and he is only going to get better i think it’s a bridge deal for a good reason that the Bruins want to make sure he’s going to become that player that they think he is and they know he will be but just don’t want to dish out the $5 million contract at probably 5 million while first of all they still have these big defensive contracts under under the roof and second of all when they’re just not that certain at uh you know right now at 100% bet because you want to be in you know you want to be sure when you get a guy like Mason Lai who is a young prospect defenseman supposed to be really good and just has not yet been able to fully get into the game and fully been able to you run away with the season by himself just yet but last year he played phenomenal 77 games 33 points 20 minutes time on ice just about especially playing a bigger role after the injuries last year especially in Hampus Lind home we saw Mason Lai jump up to the second line for the most of the year first line at times and he he found a home there and I’m very excited to see what he can do you know taking a lesser role next year likely behind Zidorov and behind His Lindholm who will be healthy once again but still having that more experience just playing you know probably still around the same amount of time it’s going to be a good another good test for and especially being able to kind of you know sit back and also watch a guy like Hamilton who has been a very very good defenseman as well over the past few seasons and we do have another projection here by AFP Analytics this one kind of gives you a good idea of where they currently stand as well on the long-term deal which could have been and the short term so at 2 years 3 million you know really similar to what we’ve been seeing on that short term and the six year 5.4 million once again you know I feel like the Bruins really didn’t want to give that out for sure and you know be like put their uh put their all all their chips in one one part of the table it makes sense i do like this but with people calling this overpay I really just cannot see it i think it’s a very very good and smart contract i think he is well worth over 3 million i I think I think the fact that they got you know 3.2 two in that range was absolutely phenomenal for a guy who is going to get a big test over these next few seasons with the uncertainty and the way that this team is heading so I want to know what you guys think about this contract here as well because it is one that I think a lot of people are going to be you know kind of unsure of to start off with but I think as we get into next season when we see a uh whoever the D partner is with them right now I believe it’s Andrew Peak but that could certainly change i think he’s in a very good spot to be able to lead on whatever line he’s on and even this defensive core uh sooner rather than later and I do have one more little screenshot here of those free agents as I mentioned on the right side and you can go take a look up here there’s a lot of players here who uh a lot of players here who are much older than a guy like uh you know Henry Oiharu and whatnot so putting Henry Oiharu in that idea of a 26-year-old right-handed defenseman who could resign with the Boston Bruins had a very good time there with Nikita Zidorov that’s one that I’m very hopeful that would occur and uh you know I think it’s only time will tell what we see here and I still do think although he is much better than a lot of defenseman here he will have one of the lower contracts to be able to help out this Bruins defense and the Bruins cap and you know kind of as we go back to it as well taking a look at the um the cap space 23 93 million call it 24 they have a lot of money to spend and there’s a lot that has to go on excuse me on the offensive side of the puck and you know one defenseman really could help that out lock that defense up and you’ll be good to go from there so once again let me know what you think about this here in the comments below i’m very curious to see what our reaction is here on the channel i feel like there’s going to be a lot of mixed opinions but I think that we can all say this is a very smart decision to get Mason Lai on what would be a better deal shortterm rather than going for the big uh the big spending long-term fiveyear sixyear deal and uh being uncertain about that in year three or four even if we do have to pay more money in two years time to get him back at maybe an 8 million would be a little you know a big boost but that also means he’d be playing very very good hockey so I think only time will tell to see how this contract works i think this is absolutely risk-f free at this point so let me know what you think about that but we do have one more update here to end the video off and this comes with an announcement coming in a few days from the Boston Bruins they have put out their new logo on their Twitter and you go here you can see pulling up the big one the smoke be has a new look i shouldn’t say new you know kind of retro look now but this is where they’re going for the organization they’re changing back to a little retro logo but I do like it and they were used from the Centennial season 23 24 we remember those logos very very well and now going back to those here and the jerseys to come in two days time we’re going to get a very good update here on the Boston Bruins side of things and I want to know what you guys think about the logos as well more importantly obviously Mason Lai that side of things let me know about that first but let me know what you think about the rebranding here as well of the Boston Bruins i think it’s a good time to do it i know they’ve been talking about it a little bit for you know the past few seasons but it is a good time now start off fresh here on the season go with a new and a very different looking team and you know kind of leave the past behind us and when we get to the draft here in a week’s time not even a week 5 days we’re going to be in a very different scenario than we were you know not even two months ago so let me know what you think about all of that there in the comments below of course because we got a lot of news coming a lot of stuff coming we have a video about as I mentioned a superstar being uh you know put to the Boston Bruins and make sure to take it with a grain of salt yeah I need you to prepare for that video here in the comments below uh you know and just get ready for because it’s an absurd one but like I said let me know what you think about all these signings here or the signing of Jason L in the comments below as well as the rebrand for the Boston Bruins here that’s all I got in this video if you did enjoy give it a like hit the sub button as well i’m signing out though thank you for watching hope you have a great day see you later

  1. I'm glad it's short term. Little bit higher than I would have liked, but not by much. It's a good "prove it to me" contract

  2. The cap is going to skyrocket over that time. It's a fair deal and it's good to see they got a bridge deal done, Lohrei has promise but needs to prove it. I like this one 🙂 Good analysis too, totally agree it's a fair contract

  3. I don’t agree with people that it’s an over pay and I like how it’s a short term contract I think they did the right thing for now

  4. Although I would like to see more snarl and nastiness from Mason, I think he’s only going to continue to improve. Good short term signing! 👍

  5. I love Lohrei he has a ton of upside but if his defense does not significantly improve over these next 2 years then he will not be worth an extension after that.

  6. It's only like a $500K over pay, I'm ok with it. He will still be an RFA at the end of the contract and they'll be able to control him one more contract or trade him for some good value.

  7. “Robbery”? Former Bruin #6 Gord Kluzak, he (Lohrei) is not. Clean up his defensive lapses, Lohrei may become what many also saw in Gordie Kluzak before knee injuries, big and tougher to play against with offensive upside on backend. 🐻

  8. should have locked him up for longer, not many puck moving defense. he will only get better

  9. It's not that bad a contract really? Maybe a slight overpay but nothing to really bitch about!? Lohrei has gotta tighten up his D tho!? He's not bad offensively for a D guy but he needs to get better in own zone and get better at tying guys up in front of net and not allowing them to get rebounds sp easily, the entire D squad needs to work on that really cuz they've made it way to easy for teams to get to and bang in rebounds way too often last couple seasons!? Too many times they don't have guys sticks tied up and they just whack away at puck instead of taking body and taking attacker out of play and too often the other team is able to get sticks on rebounds 1st and they bang them in way too easily and way too often!!?? They've gotta get better at not allowing guys anywhere near those kinda rebounds!!?? They aren't hard enough In front of their own net and they allow teams to have puck and get set up and work it around perimeter and fire away from up top way too easily and too often it goes in from a straight snipe or bomber slapper or it gets tipped or deflected In too much!? They gotta not allow teams to get in zone and get set up so easily!? They shouldn't be letting them get set up and work it around perimeter so easily cuz guys r too good at getting it thru from blueline/tops of circles and if they don't get it straight thru with shot and other guys r too good at tipping shots that come from up high!? I just think they've been making it too easy for teams to beat them by not being hard enough in puck in own end and not taking advantage of opportunities to get pucks out!!?? That's 1 bog thing Lohrei needs to work on!!? They all do really but Lohrei especially!?

  10. They should deduct $10,000 for every turn over he commits. He’ ll owe them money at the end of the season.

  11. Defenseman should be able to play defense. His plus/minus is terrible. That's no defenseman. Not worth the money. He'll probably get traded anyway so I really don't care

  12. So in baseball that’s a 2 year 6.4 million dollar deal? I don’t know if I like MLBs way or the NHLs way better. So then how does cap space work. 23.93 million. Is that for this upcoming year, or all they got for a few years. Like is signing someone to 4 years at 5 million a year take 20 out? Or just 5? I was basically a crime/news analyst in the Army, not a financial data analyst 😂.
