Takeaway with drill
hi everyone my name is Mikan I’m the US gtf teing professional here at the airport driving RS in Williamsville New York today I want to talk to you a little bit about the takeaway uh it’s very important that we keep the takeaway as one piece and not two separate pieces a lot of mistakes I see students make is they tend to take the club back more with their hands and not using their upper body or their hips or or their core muscles okay things I them is they take the club back and from the side they’ll let the hands open the face up and from there you’re going to have to try to close that th by rotating your hand we kind of want to take that out of the gulf swing so today we want to focus more on how we take the club back so one of the drills I’d like to give to students is taking the club and putting the grip right in your navl and then stretch your hands out down to the lower part of the grip and your right hand down on the G shaft itself get into your posture and to have that nice one piece takeway we want to feel the right hip or both hips just turn and as you turn your hips keep that right hip inside of your right foot you notice how my hands are moving with that motion and I haven’t changed my hand positioning and it’s still in the same position I dress as it is when we get to about the 8:00 position or right about here this is also going to keep the face Square to the path of the club so we don’t have to open the face up if I rotate my hand you can see the butt in the club comes off by Naval and now face old that’s what we were trying to avoid so again a great drill fory to work on is just turn your hi Club while the club your enal and just rotate back to here from here I like teaching students how to work through the golf B rotation so keeping the bot of the club in your enal we’re going to work through the ball so from here we’re going to just rotate the hips in the opposite direction as we turn the hips let the hands go keep the club in the in your navl let the hands and Club go with the hips more importantly as your hip turns let your right knee rotate into your left knee and let the right heel start to rotate up again coming to the 4:00 position here this will help you learn how to move not only your takeaway but also how your hip legs move through the golf ball rotation
