Steelers WR2 search: Is Amari Cooper the best fit if Keenan Allen isn’t interested?

The Post-Gazette’s Adam Bittner and Jason Mackey size up the NFL free agent wide receiver market now that Aaron Rodgers is officially in the fold for the Steelers as QB. Should GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin be targeting Amari Cooper as one of the biggest names remaining? Allen Lazard as one of Rodgers’ personal favorites? Or could they still convince Keenan Allen to come to Pittsburgh to play alongside names like DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson and Robert Woods?

Our duo tackles those topics, as well as Jason’s column on why Rodgers is the most important person in Pittsburgh sports right now. Then the guys pivot to hockey ahead of the NHL draft later this week. Should GM Kyle Dubas look to trade up? Or hold onto both of his first-round picks? Could he move draft capital to add firepower around Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang? Move out bad contracts to guys Erk Karlsson, Ryan Graves and Tristan Jarry? Or could names like Rickard Rakell and Bryan Rust be on the trade block?

  1. Hey Adam and Jason, Great show gentlemen. I agree 100% about Tomlin being the most important person in Pittsburgh sports off the field. It absolutely blows my mind that so many of our so-called fans are saying that he needs to be fired. I don't know if it's a lack of knowledge when it comes to what Tomlin has accomplished or if it's just a bunch (and by a bunch I mean a 💩 ton) of frustrated morons looking to blame someone for the shortcomings of our OCs (Canada) and QBs but it honestly frosts my flakes! The one's that really get to me are the one's who call for him to get fired because he was a DEI hire……REALLY? Are our fans actually THAT racist?!?!? The man is a hall of fame coach that was hired BEFORE dei was even really a thing! I'd like to hear your thoughts on this rhetoric.
