  1. This is what we call the consequences of a horrible team culture, both within the locker room and in management. Leafs have made their team a place where good players feel they deserve phenomenal player money, and a place where failing in the playoffs is totally acceptable behavior. Knies is exactly what this team needs, but unsurprisingly, he wants big star money like Nylander and Matthews have. Why? Because he's actually a better performer in the playoffs than either of them and so why shouldn't he be paid like them. Man oh man, this team is cooked, and for a while too.

  2. A good deal is a deal with the Jets. Knies wants to play with a winner like Toews, not cowardly losers

  3. Most Canadian born players don't want to play in Canada and if less in Toronto, So yes leafs will need to pay up to keep Knies for now, but at some point he will want to make us way back down South

  4. I love Knies but let him go ahead and sign any offer sheet…. we could use the picks (even a trade bait). If he signs, it means he wants to go… no hard feelings and good luck

  5. June 22 is not early June. But yeah it’s not a worry. I’d assume with Marner leaving they’re concentrating on what FA targets they’re going to target atm and then I’d assume we’ll see a Knies extension in early** July

  6. No surprise. Knies wants a short term deal and the Leafs want to lock him in for 8 years. With the cap rising short term deals are the new thing

  7. 1) Jessie doesn't want to talk about the culture problem in Toronto, but instead the low-hanging fruit of another contract. 2) Leafs screwed up when they didn't trade Marner. 3) While the Leafs were good enough to beat Florida, and losing Stolarz was objectively horrible, (Woll is no slouch), the issue is with the core-5 (I'm including Reilly) who have SEVERLY underperformed in the playoffs versus the regular season.

  8. You think maybe one of the reasons the contracts in Toronto are inflated is that every goddamn step of the negotiation process is disected like this?

  9. This is hilarious lol. Guy learned from the other greedy roster players. Oh Toronto, maybe win a cup in 2067?

  10. I’d rather make a hard stance against handing out huge contracts, and take a step back. Than hand out big contracts and get killed in game 7s every year
