Withe the 2025 NHL Draft and Free Agency starting in days Rumors are swirling that the Vegas Golden Knights are favorites to sign Mitch Marner and they need to create cap space. The NJ Devils should be all over this and 2 players that have been rumored to be on the move are Tomas Hertl and Ivan Barbashev. Can GM Tom Fitzgerald pull off a blockbuster trade and acquire both players, in this video I go over how thats possible.

Not sure the chances of something like this, but it is a pretty creative trade idea. I wouldn’t hate it.
I also doubt we will see this happen but I think the main takeaway from this idea is that there ARE moves that can be made that would work as long as Fitz finds the right trade partner. People tend to forget that he can't just will things to happen and also that Fitz isn't the only GM looking to strike a favorable deal. Let's just hope that he makes the right moves and gets the players that will thrive under Keefe.
Heard about the Hertl rumors this morning, and I definitely see him being moved…. Vegas needs to clear cap space to make a run at Marner, so I don’t think NJ would even have to add Mercer in on a deal – how about Casey & a couple of draft picks? ..and I think he could slot in at 1C, and move Jack to the wing…. Having him go to Carolina wouldn’t be good – hopefully Fitz makes a call on this!

I do like this trade a lot. Yes Kovacevic can go on LTIR but not until after the final cutdown day meaning his money number will count against the cap at the beginning of the year. I do believe Palat gets traded and Fitz may have to attach Casey to get it done. Something like Palat and Casay to the Sharks for a draft picks and/or prospects.
I actually really like this trade as a VGK fan – provided we can actually get Marner.
Would love for you and running with the devils to do a show together.
