Isles will trade with Trotz for the 5th pick, Dobson going the other way, using it to select Hagens after drafting Schaefer first. Handshake deals with Chicago and Utah.
I think Schaefer could also bring out the best in Cole Eiserman and Cal Ritchie. They are both offense oriented and that trident could be fun to see. If Darche could somehow add Hagens, I think a powerplay in 2 years could be amazing.
What about identity? When do we start worrying about that? Just run back a crap season, win a lottery pick and then fill in the holes the following season?
Transformation rather than invention, I think Darche is doing his job, he sees there already is a lot to build on and develop, Lou established a great group and culture, they need some changes this year obviously The main question about this off season for me is did we just get the future top defenseman in nhl? Look at leech, he brought a cup to the rags, he could be special, or not at all! Lol
Here's hoping the Isles can pull it off and draft Schaefer & Hagens. Trade for Issac Howard and keep both 2026 first round draft picks. If this means trading Dobson, JG Pageau and more, than fine. I don't think any of these KIDS should play for the Isles this coming season, and the Isles should look toward 2026-27 as the first year when Schaefer, Hagens, Eiserman, Ritchie, Danny Nelson and Issac Howard are all given a chance to make the team. I do hope that Horvat, Barzel, Sorokin, and Romanov can help the kids move forward.
Cal Ritchie is getting NO respect on all these Islander videos lately!!! Ritchie will likely be the best player out of Schaefer, Hagens, etc. Cal Ritchie has the hockey IQ of Yoda!!! Start putting a little respect of Ritchie's name!!!! HE is more likely the be a franchise player than Schaefer. Colorado was NUTS to give him up

What happened to Howard? Yes Howard would put a stamp on a Darche team.
