IF Oettinger is a “man”, he won’t take that “severe embarrassment” lightly. DeBoer threw him under the bus, and then reversed and did it again 2 times.

Oettinger wasn’t up to it- end of story. He probably should’ve been pulled earlier in the series when he was struggling. Like helebuyck, who’s poor showings put the Jets behind the eight ball, I don’t understand why more coaches don’t pull in favor of their number 2 to allow a reset, instead of just keeping the struggling goalie in continually. Good for Deboer!
He took it out on Otter, and probably just cost them their franchise goalie. If I were Otter, I'd be demanding to be released. That relationship is done. He pulled Otter and the backup (who hadn't played in over a month) let in 4 more goals. Also, those goals weren't all his fault, the first was on a powerplay and the 2nd was after the defense allowed a break away. Either way, Deboer did panic and it reminds me of how Roy ended his tenure with Montreal

I put the blame on the coach and the on ice leadership. I'll get roasted for saying this but I think Benn needs to pass the proverbial baton. Benn is consistently inconsistent and that reflects with the team.

DeBoer shouldn’t count Jake’s record against Edmonton. He should count his record in winning conference finals and Stanley Cups. Yeah, really impressive.
I don’t see a problem whatsoever in pulling him early in game 5. I don’t know DeBoer’s exact comments after the game but they must have been pretty awful for people to be losing their sht the way they are.

DeBoer let his emotions get the best of him that game, it may not have changed the outcome of the series, but he didn't give them a chance to win that game either. They got outplayed sure but he straight up got outcoached, he had zero answers for the Oilers, it's his job to spark his team, he clearly didn't try before game 5… They lost 14 periods that series, only one they won was more thanks to Edmonton taking tons of penalties…

As a big Pete DeBoar fan I was hugely disappointed in him. As a childhood hockey player, A coach at any level should NEVER pull a goalie after a 1st period start. Jake is a PREMIER GOALIE AND SHOULD NOT EVER BE DISRESPECTED LIKE THIS! If I were in that locker room, I would go to management and let them know the coach lost the room and if you want to keep him, I want out! I would hope players would stick up for OTTER!

Otters head is on right he took the criticism better than we would maybe because he knew petes job was done and letting him one sidedly run his mouth garunteed it.

Talking smack about Otter's sample size against the oil? deboer's sample size in conference finals is WAY bigger than Otter's and he has NOT won, anywhere, with any goaltender. Maybe Otter's NOT the problem . . .
