John Gibson now noted as being open to a trade to the Oilers. Will that mean a shake up this off-season in the Edmonton Oilers crease?

  1. They need to do something with the goaltending. I'm… not sure that's it. The window's closing, and they need to come up with something more than a "Maybe? **shrug**". Can't just put the onus of winning a championship on the players. Time for management to look under every rock and find a gem. Not disrespecting Gibson, and he could be an upgrade. But, it's just another in a long line of gambles that inspires question marks instead of confidence.

  2. He's still better than skinner and I like skinner but John Gibson is way better than what Edmonton have as of right now

  3. John Gibson is a definite upgrade, everyone is doubting him because he is on a bad team, but… the Oilers are a perfect fit!

  4. Oilers better put some heavy thought to what they are doing to make a winner or they will lose McDavid and wonder why McDavid then went missing.

  5. Poor Skinner. To blame one man is absolutely insane. The reason his family is being threatened. But make sure to get clicks and likes.

  6. This is just completely STUPID.
John Gibson played how many games last season? Stuart played how many?

  7. Oil fans seem disinterested in talking about the elephant in the room – they have 8 million in cap and still six open roster spots including Bouchard. That’s the starting point – not the wish list of players.

  8. I think Gibson is an upgrade, but I'm concerned about him staying healthy. He will have to be a workhorse in Edmonton.

  9. I honestly think Oilers are best served rolling into next year with Skinner and playing things out with the rest of the league until trade deadline to see who wants to sell. I know a lot of faith has been lost but 2 cup finals for a young goalie could easily be a pivotal experience and we should at least see how things play out until more options present themselves. I think making a panic trade with a big cap hit is an even riskier move than playing some “wait and see” for the first half of next year.

  10. Gibson is overpriced for a goalie that will only play half a season. He hasn't been playoff tested in ages. High risk

  11. Don't hate Gibson; but probably going to go the way of Campbell. Skinner needs a real coach. Oilers have needed a real goalie coach for years.

  12. Anyone that considers Gibson or even thinks he's a good idea at this stage in his career as anything but a solid backup should be laughed out of the sports reporting business. He's only up for trade because he's not even the #1 in Anaheim anymore, and he's injured way too often to even consider putting starter miles on him.

  13. Honestly I think the Oilers should keep Skinner I think he still has lots of fight left in him. I think what the Oilers should do is get rid of the goalie coach and start fresh cause ya never know that might be what we needed this whole time is a new goalie coach just saying.
