  1. AK/EL, Happy Friday, great points and listen just to kind of push back on the age thing—yes you are 110% right. Mr. Marchand, love to hate him, is a guy that fit in with Florida. When your the losing team–the bad team–there are always lots of fingers pointed and reasons why. t's how these players are used–Florida's 23 man roster worked so well and was so dominant because they individually did their jobs and Paul Maurice's defensively aggressive forechecking system. Vito did a great job building this roster–the real move that kicked this team into what it is now is uggghhhh firing Andrew Brunette and installing Paul Maurice. It clicked this team to another level…scary thing is they could be even better next year and is a 3 peat possible? I think so. Nashville needs some fundamental changes to the culture and Andrew Brunette and Barry–they need to get some "stuff" off ice squared away. I'm not going to get up in arms about the Haula acquisition because now it feels like every Barry move is going to be under the microscope because of how bad this season went–it's ok—he doesn''t move the needle but I'm going to be highly skeptical of everything until I see some new attitudes and body language when camp hits for next season. Trade whomever, sign whomever, there needs to a guy here that puts his foot down and says "let's get to it boys—time to start going to work and getting the negative out of the locker room"—if there needs to be a cleansing–if there is a guy that can't buy in then get him out the door. Addition by subtraction is an good move to get a locker room right. In addition, I fully expect to see some teams overpay for a bottom 6 Panther forward lol..(hopefully not us…ehhh). EL, good points on ownership—and it begs the question is ownership really serious about winning as much as we thought? Vincent Viola has put his money where his mouth is with the Panthers….and it only enhances Florida as an organization. I'm not saying it makes the on ice product better but clearly there are owners in the NHL that are serious about winning and serious about sustained success–can we say that about Bill Haslam?

  2. Florida drafted and developed Ekblad, Barkov and Lundell. They made bold trades, like acquiring Tkachuk, Bennett, Verhaege and Reinhart. The Preds last summer made 3 huge free agent signings and flopped, plunging to the bottom of the standings. Florida traded for Marchessault and Jones at the trade deadline and won their second straight Cup in 3 consecutive appearances. It seems the Preds are a long way from emulating the Panthers. Trotz has a long way to go.

  3. Well, there is one big piece of Florida that seems to be leaving the team which plays exactly one of the two positions we need really bad. That would certainly make us a bit more like them lol

  4. The Preds, unlike the Florida Panthers, over relied last off-season on free agency, and that hurt the Preds real bad.

  5. Anyone who believes that there isn’t a significant talent gap between Barkov and ROR, Bennett and Sissons, or Lundell and Svechkov as a few examples, is very mistaken. “Knowing your role” doesn’t really matter when the opponent is out scoring and out possessing you. No “chemistry” will be established if the other team is winning races and rolling lines. Nashville has two legit elite skaters, meanwhile a team like Florida has six. Let get real here.
