BLOCKBUSTER TRADE For The Edmonton Oilers + Boston Bruins Possible?

hey friends this is Dolly TV glad to have you aboard here on a Monday afternoon edition as we get fired up for an Edmonton Oilers chat here that comes hot out of yesterday’s John Gibson turmoil in Oilers land i don’t know what it is about Oilers fans and John Gibson but man is there a sore spot there and well let’s uh head over to where everybody’s a lot more warm and receptive to a goalie coming over that being the Boston Bruins potentially Jeremy Swayman and maybe that guy that is backing him up so there’s a little bit there to unpack and discuss and again this comes out of a conversation with Patrick from the Oilers fanatic and it also comes out of just kind of you know making sense of something that’s uh kind of been long rumored between the Oilers and Bruins but also something that again is a big swing if the Oilers do do it and there’s a reason behind that and why I’m thinking on it so if you are new to the channel consider hitting that subscribe button would love to have you aboard as a regular viewer on the channel but again when the Edmonton Oilers go looking for a toptarget goalender like maybe they are this summer again the Oilers are at least at the bare minimum you know going out there and exploring the market whether it be trade free agency and if you’re really putting up a uh wish list of goalenders to join the Oilers you first off have to get rid of one of the two we have if not both and this is kind of where all of a sudden Patrick from the Oilers fanatic on the drive home there as I was chatting with him got the gears turning towards this whole Boston Bruins thing is simply a blockbuster between the Oilers and Bruins i I think there’s been some smoke out there whether it be in fan circles or maybe on some podcasts and some insider information talking about you know a Darnell Nurse to the Boston Bruins might be a fit there and I think logistically from a cap situation for the Oilers if you’re going after Jeremy Swayman who’s in there just north of 8 million that does logistically start to sound and make sense that said there is a major hangup that light bulb goes off i’m not just going to go on a tangent talking about nurse for Swayman before I mention the fact that Nurse is best friends with Connor and Leyon and yeah while the Oilers are sitting there in the locker room specifically McDavid talking about that they got to keep Booshard I am sure they also are saying that about Darnell Nurse again any trade involving Darnell Nurse will be a very sensitive subject for a lot of the Edmonton Oilers players in the locker room as I’m sure the same thing of Cody Cece last year again the Oilers love their guys that go with battle for him every single night this roster has been constructed of good soldiers so far and obviously he’d love to see Darnell Nurse be able to win the cup one day in Edmonton specifically just to prove to the doubters that said when he signed that contract that that was going to doom the Oilers forever they’ve been to two cup finals in a row so doom is maybe not something we’re feeling every single day just on days of defeat nowadays so again caution where caution is about that but again you start talking about sway in for nurse and the dollars start making sense and all of a sudden the light bulbs start going off and things start sounding good and then you remember and this this is where again talking with Patrick walking through it discussing it this afternoon uh again you remember the fact that the Oilers were willing to somehow make something like $14 million work for Miko Ranton next year should they have acquired him so um if you’re talking about acquiring an $8 million goalender or a stud goalender no matter who it is again this is all under the pretense that you’re just acquiring somebody who’s good in the goalending world that said Jeremy Swayman had worse numbers than Yonas Corposalo in the Bruins net last year so uh numbers according to basically Stuart Skinner’s numbers so keep that in mind as well not good numbers there from Swayman but uh again it is what it is and you know Swimman’s got the elite capabilities so you know suddenly okay you start seeing it kind of make sense from that point of view as the camera’s just glitching out here sorry friends it’s uh it is what it is but um now all of a sudden you got to start talking about the other situation which is the Oilers figuring out trades for you know Elander Kane and Victor Ardson and how that all folds up because the Oilers truly don’t have enough cap space right now to get everything they need done trade Victor Arvinson and you know a guy like uh Evander Kane suddenly you’ve got $9 million or thereabout things start getting a little bit easier if you’re the Edmonton Oilers especially if you start trading guys that are close dollar for dollar to fill other positions and obviously if you bring a goalender in you’re moving at least a million dollars out in that aspect so now suddenly okay all right we’re talking Jeremy Swain that that could make sense it could work it’s a possibility but how much does Boston want to get rid of their starter and how much more do they trust Jonas Corpus Salo to get the job done if that’s the case and that’s where Okay all right now you’re talking about Jake Allen all right jake Allen’s a free agent choice probably the premier choice on the um on the market this year and probably the worst choice you could possibly make because Patrick will probably have the same line for you considering our notes come from the same conversation uh whoever signs Jake Allen is not going to get their money’s worth and that’s not because Jake Allen’s a bad goalie it’s just because he’s the best goalie on the market available and you know for certain if the Oilers signed one of those guys which they did with Jack Campbell a few years ago you get where I’m going right it’s just No it’s just not going to work it’s not going to happen jake Allen can be as much of a solution as he wants to be his price tag because his agent likely knows that that’s the scenario will be too high for the Oilers to get the performance out of them that you’re paying for so let’s just avoid that all together and again if you’re talking you know Jake Allen somewhere minimum 2.5 to all the way up to possibly five depending on term you know Corpusal becomes available for the same dollar amounts so all of a sudden you know if you’re talking about you know Jeremy Swayman you might as well be looking at the Boston Bruins trading off pretty much anybody who’s over the age of 30 and Yonas Corpalo that name starts to become appealing because his numbers were better than Swayman just slightly last year and that means his numbers were on par with Skinner and Pickard which means hey why not why not you get a veteran goalie who has similar numbers to the guys that aren’t getting the job done now sound sounds like a win in Oilers land at least on a bare minimum scale so there there would be a lesser acquisition cost a lesser cap hit kind of around that three 4 million range for uh for Yonas Corpalo all said and done when you trade one of our goalies out of the mix and all of a sudden you start seeing here how a trade whether it be the blockbuster for Swayman or whether it be the trade for Corpusal for the Edmonton Oilers and the Boston Bruins it suddenly starts making a lot of sense and that’s where the title comes from tonight saying the Edmonton Oilers Boston Bruins blockbuster possible simply because there’s a lot of things that you can sit here and think on and it really starts to get the wheels turning okay that makes sense that makes sense that makes sense that’s a hurdle that’s tough to overcome but again this is also two general managers working it out and for the right price anything is possible the Oilers have some pieces i’m sure the Boston Bruins would be intrigued to get if you’re talking about trading Darnell Nurse for Jeremy Swayman the price for Yarnos Corpalo maybe not that hefty maybe you get away with you know a Boy and something else a draft pick or you know a roster player like Adam Henrique or a guy like Victor Arvinson you start working those guys in i don’t I don’t see at all how Victor Arvinson and I would fit into a trade to the Boston Bruins darnell Nurse I think that one just capwise and maybe player-wise makes a little bit more sense for the Boston Bruins but in terms of our two big trade targets in uh or trade assets in terms of Vander Kane and Victor Arvdson for cap space this year they unless you’re giving Bruins a sweetheart deal or they are mega pissed off still at Jeremy Swayman for everything that happened during negotiations last year I don’t see how anything works out here in terms of those two going to the Boston Bruins to get a guy back in Swayman so I I guess really the conversation becomes how possible is one versus the other versus the whole thing happening and really Jeremy Swayman probably you know probably the lowest possible out of all the guys if you were to rank you know Jake Allen you know you add in there as well John Gibson you add in there Jake Allen’s at the top sorry John Gibson Jonas Corposal and then Jeremy Swayman it would probably be that kind of mixture of most likely to be an Oiler to least likely to be an Oiler and then you know you get priority list of who you would want the most i think you’ve got probably Jeremy Swayman at the top you’ve got you know Yonas Corposalo Jake Allen probably fighting for the two spot and then depending on what kind of Oilers fan you are and what kind of goalender you’re looking for you fight between the bottom three guys for position number three and four truly but I think you have to choose between Allan or Corpusalo for number two if we’re really going there based on what my feedback in the comments section was on the John Gibson video last night so again it’s a lot of theory it’s a lot of understanding it’s a lot of trying to make the numbers work it’s a lot of what are you willing to give up to the Bruins again Bo Ay uh you’ve got Sam O’Reilly i think Matt Seavo is completely untouchable i sure hell hope that Sam O’Reilly is untouchable you got guys like William Nickel Connor Clattenburgg in the system as well you got very limited capital in terms of draft stock for the Oilers um in terms of picks so what you do from here on out in terms of going big game hunting again the Boston Bruins based on where they are in their franchise right now I think make a lot of sense to be a trading partner whether they become one or not is a different conversation but at least opening that door and talking to them and figuring that stuff out does make sense as well so we’ll see what happens here friends as we continue along on the off season so far but I appreciate you hanging out and again if you have a moment to hit that subscribe button I would greatly
