Now that the NHL’s Stanley Cup has been handed to the Florida Panthers for the second year in a row, Shaun Starr and Marco D’Amico splash the pot with the latest from the NHL rumour mill. Possible NHL trades and the Buffalo Sabres are looking to move pieces.

What about the Habs? Is the fact that it is pretty quite around their team, do we take that as a good thing?

  1. Only players id go hard after is necas and robertson , yes aware they may have warts but beggars cant be choosers . We'll see if it comes to them are interested to come I doubt but they have to try .

  2. Why should McDavid put the team on his back? He's being paid 12.5 million and will be paid 16+ million. Shut up and do your job!

  3. I think Tavares at center with Demidov and JJ Peterka would be awesome. I know I'm dreaming

  4. You really have to feel for the Buffalo Sabres fan base. They have put up with so much misery. No play offs in 14 seasons & every single star player they’ve had always want out of that team.

  5. The Edmonton Oilers haven’t landed impactful players the way Florida has, and part of the reason is they’ve had a GM operating in the Marc Bergevin mold—making low-risk, low-reward trades and banking on the fact that they have the luxury of generational talent. Bergevin had Carey Price to lean on; the Oilers have two Prices in McDavid and Draisaitl.

Bergevin ran the Canadiens with a “Seinfeld strategy”—an NHL approach about nothing. Year after year, critical holes were left unaddressed. The failure to replace Andrei Markov was borderline negligent. Meanwhile, the revolving door of fringe players and forgettable acquisitions—John Scott, Tinordi, Tokarski, Smith-Pelly, Andrighetto, Schlemko, Ott, Martinsen, Thompson, Cousins, Sturtz, Merrill, Matteau, Beaulieu, Jerabek, Fleischmann, Erik Cole, and the list goes on—was comical and frustrating.

He wasted Carey Price’s prime shuffling grinders, pluggers, aging vets, and enforcers—while cashing hefty paychecks for overseeing mediocrity.

And the draft? Instead of moving up or simply picking the obvious choice—the kid with a hockey name stitched across his back, from a family built for the sport—he zagged. And that, more than anything, defines the Bergevin era: always a move behind, never the bold one you hoped for. He said it was hard to get centers. It took Kent Hughes 5 seconds to get Kirby Dach.

  6. I don’t think petterka signs a offer sheet because then if Buffalo matches he will be forced to stay there. Unless it’s maybe like the KK one where it’s 1year at a extremely high cap hit

  7. Am I missing something? Why didn’t the Habs trade for Mason Marchment, big tough productive winger ? They have the assets ! Geee…

  8. Peterka won't get offer sheeted you know why ??? Becaue is want to get out of Buffalo and if he accept an offer sheet, Buffalo might matched it and Peterka will be stuck in Buffalo for a long time!!!
