  1. What a well spoken and knowledgeable guy. He should definitely get involved in media or mgmt

  2. Chicago made a stupid trade, in not going with a tandem of Belfour & Hasek. I don't think that Chicago even got a good player back from The Buffalo Sabres. Chicago definitely got fleeced on that trade.

  3. Great Interview. Cal, I guess that the biggest compliment I can give you, is, I'm A Rangers Fan & I was so impressed by The Identity Line & don't really remember any other line, in hockey, being as good a 2-way line. Matt, Casey & you really & truly impressed me so, that, I would have loved to have you 3 on The Rangers as our 3rd Line, after it looked as if The Islanders were going to move on from you. All of the best in your retirement.

  4. The Bobby, Open The Window, was the second trade to The Rangers, not his First Trade (he was traded in 1967 from The Chicago Black Hawks – I'd have loved to have seen him stay in Chicago, to play with brother, Tony O Esposito – Chicago is A Likely Dynasty, with both of the Esposito Brothers).

  5. Oilers need to upgrade their goalie and move on from Nurse. Nurse will be harder to move bc I believe he has a ntc. Definitely don’t think he’s worth the $$. Agreed with nugent Hopkins. He also needs to go. Love draisatl, but the panthers speed was too much for him. Definitely need secondary scoring. Right now u shut down the oilers top line, ur winning the game.

  6. If I had to lose Chris Kreider, I think that your deals were so much better than what they got from Anaheim. Please, let me know what you think

  7. Thanks to Cal and the Big Apple guys for the great discussion. The first installment after having games was phenomenal. Isles fans, Cal's assessment of the club selecting Schaefer is spot on, taking into consideration the intangibles surrounding Hagens. Florida's situation concerning its pending UFAs is interesting. When in Edmonton during their dynasty, Glen Sather was a believer in turning over the roster to psychologically freshen the locker room and keep the group competitively focused, especially in the wake of a championship. The alterations to the bottom six forwards. It will be interesting to see what philosophy Zito deploys concerning the status of Bennett, Ekblad, Schmidt, and Marchand, although recently he has expressed an interest in bringing back Bennett. Filks' take on McDavid is rational. The conspiracies surrounding McDavid recently have been absurd, with most of the insanity originating out of the T.O., no surprise. As far as the comparison to Cal's trade to the Island, in Esposito's book, Thunder and Lightning, he describes the most disturbing detail he remembers about the news of his trade to Broadway was that Don Cherry was wearing the ugliest outfit he had ever seen when informed of the deal. Terrific segment as always.

  8. When Cal first moved to Long Island we went to meet the Isles event. He came out from behind the table n picked him up and took a picture. Then he proceeded to give us 110% for a decade. A GREAT Islander n good dude. My Son now plays hockey in college.
