If he’s there and best available, take him and worry about it later. A sure asset vs a hopefully-this-guy-sticks-at-center? No brainer.
If he’s there you have to take him. We have plenty of assets/prospects to find a decent center.
Martone over Hagens, if both still available?
Flyers are getting a center. Hagens, caleb, mcqueen/obrien. These are the flyers choices at six. Edit: all these guys will be centers in the nhl.
Maybe take Martone, then trade for a center? You always go BPA.
Its wild that the Blackhawks likely will pass on Martone at #3.
love Martone if he drops. at 6 they have to take best player available and Martone will be the BPA if he is available at 6.
Yes, the Flyers need a centers, but on a broader level, they need more skill. Take the winger with 1L upside over a center with 2L upside. I also think the "mean" thing is silly. Martone is big and will be hard to contain in scoring areas. Pastrnak isn't mean. Rantanen isn't mean. Kucherov isn't mean. Etc.
Honestly I would take O’Brien instead of Martone
Assuming Schaffer, Misa, Frondell, & Desnoyers are already taken I would take Martone at 6 if Hagens goes earlier. O'Brien would be an option there too.

Great video and analysis. I would hope the Flyers might have the temerity to take Martone if he fell to them, and figure out the center position by other means. Or better yet, just have one of the centers fall to them.

If Hagans is already taken, Martone is the obvious choice in my mind. The coaching system Rick Tochett is building would be great for someone like him.
Don’t draft on need, take the F’n best player available. They have multiple picks in rd 1 so draft on skill and upside. They finally did this with Mitchkov but I’m still not sold based on history.
