It is NOT easy winning a CUP-Mcdavid stays because he is right there at the threshhold!!They were close last season to win the cup this season they got annihilated.

Please leave enough cap space to do something. McDjesus really has nowhere to go. It doesn’t make sense for him not to stay in Edmonton. A key defensive player and a goalie are all the Oilers need.

So the Oilers need major changes after going to the finals the last two years. How about the 30 other teams who did not make it to the finals? And every player in the NHL wants to win the Stanley Cup not just McDavid. Oilers losing Hyman was a back breaker.

The Oilers went 14-2 after being down 0-2 to the Kings. Yes they lost in 6 to Florida with a couple no shows, but no team in the NHL was stopping Florida. They got beat by the best team in the playoffs.
Oilers got the guy they wanted signed Trent Frederick 8 years locked up @ 4 Million.

Edmonton needs a tactical coach, one who knows how to counter the offensive and defensive strategies of the Panther team
It was obvious that the Oilers gave the cats way too much room in the attacking zone by backing in on their goalie
Maurice on the other hand had his players aggressively taken away all the space to move in their zone effectively negating McDavid and company.
This Oiler coach proved how amateur he was by having his two best players on the same line for extended periods tiring then our as the game and series wore on
The Oilers goaltender played up to his ability, his skill level is a backup NHL goalie, not a first stringer. They need a real goalie.
They have no elite offensive/defensive center shutdown player.
McDavid was the guy who carried the team two years in a row to the Cup finals but hockey is a team sport and Florida is a bonafide team who won

Man those Florida Referees are a really good team. The Panthers are alright, too.
It's all about consistency gentlemen. It's not about the cup . Players need play security. No 97 needed to win game 5 . Not All players are worth big money.
Comparing a full career Sidney Crosby to McDavid is pretty stupid. He can play until he's 40 and likely win a cup or two. Stupid comment.

There are a lot of things that happened in the finals that were unacceptable and I think we need a microscope on the referees. Because, I seriously don’t think they were on the level. The Panthers used rat-tactics to undermine the Oilers, as a team and used their tenacity to kill confidence and playing style. Yes, they’re an awesome team, but there are too many things that went wrong because of officiating.
McDavid would be happier playing for the Leafs!! 😂

Connor Mcdavid to Toronto coming
The way people analyze the Oilers forget that other teams are not going to be standing still and let the Oilers pick up all these highend players, this team is not guaranteed to make the finals again next year or ever. The NHL would love McDavid to be in LA or NY, from a financial stand point commericals branding, not saying it going to happen but.
As a flames fan, I don't think they should do anything different. Run it back again and see what happens 😂
Where can McDavid exactly go? The only option is Oilers. Panthers contracts are Barkov 10, Tkachuk 9 and Reinhart 8 for the next 4 years. You can't compete against that. And the rest of Panthers are all even cheaper deals. Bennett is the only UFA that can get a big deal but Panthers magically have plenty of cap to keep him and the team. Marchand will for sure sign for cheap as a 37 yera old. Bobrovsky is 10mil for the next year and I don't think they will resign a 38 year old goalie for the 26-27 season. That is to say I can't see how you build a team to match this Panthers team in the next 2 years unless you get the same kind of magical underpay contracts that Panthers have. Even Bobrovsky for 10 million is good because he has really been an elite goalie throughout both playoffs.
Maybe if you can’t beat them join them. McDavid hasn’t been able to beat the enemy. So if he wants the cup that bad maybe he should think about becoming the enemy. He would definitely be raising the cup if he did move south. 😂🤣
McDavid is better than Crosby. 😂. 100 assists. 64 goals in a season. Way more 100 point seasons. Dont ever compare crosby to Gretzky and Lemieux ever again. But you can compare mcdavid to Gretzky snd Lemieux. Crosby had fleury as a goaltender and so much depth.

Which at time's plays a factor but,
In the cup final for all the wrong reason's..
But for fun let's go with the stats part of it..
Thinking you both watched the entire playoffs
this year,
And I think pretty much everyone on the planet
who watched would agree that the ref's blew it
throughout the playoffs.
In reality,
The Stanley Cup Final
was already over after game 2.
If you look at your stats,
In every series Fla played in before the final,
during the 1st game in every round,
There was next to no penalties called during the 1st period's.
And you're both a little young but,
if you watched any of the Carolina series,
Fla got away with pretty much everything,
They reminded me of The Flyers Broad Street Bullies Era,
Minus the fighting & Minus the penalties being called on Fla.
As you know Edm had home ice advantage this year going into
the finals & Out of nowhere all of a sudden the official's/league
Chose to start calling every wimpy penalty during the 1st period's
of both game 1 & 2 in Edm.
And no not just talking about Edmonton's penalties,
What I mean is The League/Ref's took away any chance of the Oilers
to get into any flow or for that matter take advantage of Home ice.
Yes Fla is a great team & They definitely added a few key player's at the deadline
to improve themselves,
The Oilers didn't deserve to win game 6 for sure,
Way too many minor hockey mistakes etc.
If you think about it, The ref's during the final only let both team's play
in one game.
But taking away any kind of opportunity the Oilers had to get an actual
game flow of their speed etc. Along with the home ice advantage was
a brutal play by the league..
Too late now, But gotta wonder what kind of series this really would've & could've been
If the Zebra's had just let both team's play Playoff hockey throughout this series..
Any way, Yes the Oil do have to tweak their machine a bit,
And I guess we'll see what happens next season..
Panthers will beat the Oilers every year with Knobloch as coach.
Edmonton got exposed big time against Panthers, they rely way too much on controlled entries to o-zone from McDavid or Draisatl who drives most of the play and when they get shut down by Barkov, Forsling etc they look like they have no answer and the constant pressure from Panthers players in every corner of the ice is just the blue print to playoff hockey now. If games were BO1 or BO3 a team like Oilers could easily win the cup against Panthers but because its a BO7 in the end they will crack and Panthers will never let the foot off the gas and that is why its fucking beautiful to witness this masterclass of a team put together by Zito and Maurice. They know how to build a team from scraps and i promise you they could make a team better than 90% of the teams in the NHL rn with 10 million less in cap space. Also there is depth and then there is Panthers depth which is the definition of it.
Mcdavid didn’t have the same tools on the belt as Sid the kid so I don’t think that’s fair to say buddy.
MCD- Edmonton’s window is closing. A move to a bigger market is in play if management doesn’t get aggressive in this offseason. I know he’s loyal, but what’s more important money or the cup?
#97 and #29 both have attitude and leadership problems. That documentary on Amazon Prime last year revealed the truth. Also sandbagging players to speak to media press conferences after losses doesn't show accountability. The Captain and Associate Captains roles are to take accountability and have courage to stand in front during the tough times. Also would help to express gratitude and interaction with your fans. Both do not embrace their fans. They are so isolated from their fans, community and even their teammates. A huge evolution of the Oilers needs to be done. I am objective as I am not a Oilers fan. I just see what I see…

Oilers r a good team the biggest needs they HAVE to get is depth scoring instead of just thinking mcdavid and leon can do it themselves and a good goalie
You got it right they should have not played with these two goaltenders maybe Pickard as a second choice or to get a number one goal tender around the league. We’ve been saying that all season watching the Oilers get scored on with such incompetent goaltending thank you for bringing this up because pretty much every game we watched the season we got angry at because of the goaltendingIt’s not very fun to watch when you know that you’re lacking good solid goaltending
