Epic 1st period tonight, that shit was insane!
Hey Patrick, that was the best game of the playoffs and the carbon copy to run with here. They can't let go of the gas pedal. Not for a second. Literally. Patrick, the Oilers were in offensive zone in the last 10-15 seconds in each of the three periods. Total dominance and control of the entire ice surface. And first time they scored the first goal in back to back games in a long while. 3 first goals so far in the playoffs (2-1 record). Compare that with 6 first goals allowed (4-2 record).
The Oilers were 38-35 when giving up the first goal in the playoffs between 1980 and 1992. The only team above 0.500 during that stretch. Only one team did not have a below 0.500 record during that stretch. Pittsburgh. They were exactly at 0.500 with a 15-15 record. So, they are looking a lot like the Gretzky/Messier/Kurri Oilers.

Stecher has been low-key solid all season, much better player than anyone expected when he came in. Great to see him stepping up on the big stage.
Skinner plays much better when the team in front of him is locked in.
Hill was sneaky tonight. He moved a foot forward to catch Janmark skating by and pulled a penalty out of it, got another penalty call when Kane was shoved into him. Hope refs are paying attention.
Full team effort and Stu gets the shutout. That’s the Oilers team I expected. Hill gets to trip players and our guys end up in the box. Agree , bury the knights in Vegas. 9 more wins required.

Nurse pkayed his best game ever as an Oiler. Hes play calm and unassuming. And Stetcher is an excellent bottom line d-man. Emberson has a solid future as a bottom line guy but Stecher is more dynamic. Assertive and heavier.
The Oilers are now a veteran playoff team. Winning in multiple ways, without their big players scoeing and oveecoming huge lows. Like injuries and last second losses. To come off last game and shutout a recent cup winning and favored team when the pressure was all on us is a great sign of a stanley cup winning team.
I do not see Mcdavid and team losing 2 in a row. To anyone in the west.

Leon and his line negating Eichel's line tonight mattered too. Honestly all excellent points and I'm grateful for how the team did including Stu but also in front of Stu. The STUUUUUUUUUUU calls during the game, you could see his lift, the slight rise in shoulders, the acknowledgement. It was a great game and the first period was INSTANT CLASSIC.

It was an awesome game to watch. A couple fumbles but the whole team was focused and playing like they knew they could. A great game for Stu. That first period was great getting Hill fired up and off his game.

One thing I've noticed with Stu he is the type of person who thrives under majority criticism and chokes when majority love and support. Regardless he's inconsistent and has been the downfall of oilers in playoffs in the last 3 years and has been saved multiple times in first and 2nd round by back ups. Gotta love when he has a big win though. Stu and cal deserves equal games and equal salaries. Start stu until he loses 1 or 2 max then rotate to pickard for 1 or 2 losses. That's the formula to get oilers the cup.
