Guardians vs. Giants Game Highlights (6/17/25) | MLB Highlights
As DeVos will be making his debut tonight for the San Francisco Giants, acquired Sunday from Boston. The 28 year old has eight years worth a tour of $50 million remaining on his contract. So I’m here to get my 100%. I don’t put any but they’re the men in charge. I am here to play wherever they want me to play. I have to think from Devers perspective. There was frustration there with Boston. He’s now in an organization that is just thrilled to have him difference maker in the NL West on the hill tonight for the Giants will be the left handed veteran Robbie Ray in his 11th year at the big league level. He’s 33 years of age 62, 210 pounds. This is what he has done in 14 starts this year, 81 with a 255 , A and he lifts his first one out to center field for Jung Ho and that’s how this game gets started, swing and there’s a high pop up, shallow right field , angling quickly out is the second baseman and Fitzgerald gives way to the right field. Yms who makes the catch and another pop up Jung Ho side retired in a 123 inning for Giants are coming up. Take a look at Slade. You forget he’s still a very inexperience league level. So we’re learning more about him every time he goes out there, Slade with a 32 and it’s just off the outside, a leadoff walk to start tonight for the Giants taps slowly. Third base side of the mound s is on it throws. Got him at first standing ovation here at Oracle Park for the newest giant. He’s just energized this whole community right here. The baseball team, the fans everything strike three, locked him up inside, went inside, Then he went upstairs 96 above the zone, changed the eye level on the elbow and even though he’s got a wrist guard, he does not have an elbow be trying to wiggle out of a tight spot. And Dominic Smith who has been a revelation for this ball club will come to the plate hit up the middle. There’s a base hit. Here comes Lee is going to go to third one giant. So do smith comes through in the clutch. A two out base hit 1 to 0. Giants bottom third of the Guardian’s lineup due in against Robbie Ray. There’s a ball hit well, right center field that’s in triples alley. Jonathan Rodriguez racing into second base. Will he go for three? He’s going to turn and burn and he’s going to make it easily. It’s a standup leadoff triple for J Rod austin Hedges trying to get Rodriguez home from third and tie the game and he hits one high in the air to left field plenty deep enough Ramos back on the track, pulls it down and here comes Rodriguez to tie the game at one great job by austin Hedges down low and outside ball four quan draws a walk and the inning continues for the Guardians 2 to 2 ground ball to short Adam thumb the ball everybody safe. He picked his head up probably trying to figure out how much time he had to get. Lane Thomas who gets down the line in a hurry. Lane, Thomas reaching and that means you got to face the best hitter on the Guardian jose ramirez on the ground to third and scooped up by Casey Schmidt. His throw to first is right there inside retired as Robbie Ray pitches through the air. Adam takes ball four so he walks in front of Devers standing Os four times. He stepped into the batter’s box tonight gets a base hit. This is going to go crazy and he drives one out to right center field into the gap. It’s going to go to the wall. Adam is coming around third and he’s going to round third. Hill scores into second with a double Devers has his first giants hit and it drives in a run to put the Giants ahead 2 to 1 and he just smoked it 2 to 1. Giants lead it fourth inning. David Fry leads it off for Cleveland line drive left field over toward the line. It’s going to get down. It goes by Ramos into the corner and David Fry is into second base. Thought about it had a notion but Then thought better. It wisely holds at second with a leadoff double second inning in a row for the Guardians getting an extra base hit out of the plate. Carlos Santana, there’s a bouncing ball up the middle and on through a base hit into center field that will score Fry and tie this game at two hits an RB I single for Carlos Santana 2 to 2 ball game here in the fourth, he swings with the first pitch and lines went to left that’s going to get down. Guan will play it on a bounce. Guan was playing way off the line. Schmidt goes to second and stops there. He squares. He bunt Jose on the move only playing first one down. Both base runners move up on the sac bunt by Fitzgerald pops it up behind the plate under it is hedges and he makes the catch about halfway back to the screen. That’s a big out to get right there off the end of the bat. Arias has to hurry. He unloads it a perfect throw, gets him to retire the side and the Giants squander a golden opportunity to take the lead one down and that brings up Gabriel Arias who is zero for two with a pair of strikeouts. Arias trying to go the other way deep. Right center field, Lee is on the run. He’s on the track at the wall. It is gone. A home run. Arias blasts one to the opposite field and he hit it out to put the Guardians on top for the first time tonight. Three to two with a single in the fourth to the opposite field and he bloops one back in third along the left field line that’s fallen in their base hit right over along the line. He is going to try for two. The ball fielded by Kan to throw the second base is way off line and the diving grab of it. So Yaz bloops it for his 13th double of the year and now he’s in scoring position representing possible tying run. He went that perfectly executed breaking ball. Here’s the first big move of the game, Jet Johnson to bat for andrew Kisner and Stephen Vogt will go to Kate Smith pitch swing and Kate smith strikes him out to end the inning and the Giants strand the potential tying run in scoring position in the last of the seven bounces it toward the middle going far to his right Martinez it on the backhand. His throw to first is not in time. Adam beats it out. He’s got his second hit he’s on base for the third time up. The first baseline Kane did a great job to get over. Adam. The tying run moves to second base. The Guardians are going to make a change. Hunter Gattis is coming on to pitch here in the 7th. 3 to 2 is outside ball four and he flips that back to take the walk swing. He blew it by him, kept it on the outside corner and strikes out to end the inning back to back singles open the eighth inning and the Giants have something going here trailing by a run in the eighth. Swung on line drive to left coming on. Quan makes the catch throws back to second double, Schmidt was off the bag and Quan threw him out two down arias at third. The hitter is Angel Martinez high fly ball along the left field line, medium over at the foul line is caught by Ramos. Here’s the tag up. Here’s the long sort of the plate. The tag out arias with a feet first fadeaway slide and Ramos, he kind of got up behind the ball a little bit to catch it with a little forward momentum going and made the throw all the way to the plate. Now we go to the ninth and manuel Clase trying to blows out San francisco line drive. There’s a base hit. You can’t make this up. Rafael Devers will come to the plate with the game on the line in the ninth inning base hit. Now, the possible tying run is in scoring position and Elliott Ramos will come up with two men on ball four. The bases are loaded with one out left handed hitting Dominic smith steps in, swung on and there’s a fly ball to left quan circling under. It makes the catch as the tying run fails to try and score. They’re not going to challenge the arm of Stephen and so the bases remain loaded with two down. The Giants leave the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. There will be no fairy tale on opening night for Rafael Devers in a Giants uniform.

What position did devers play for the Giants on his first game with them?
GO GAURDS !!!!!
Nice work Guardians
Giants fan here. That Kwan guy is actually pretty damn good. And welcome to SF Mr. Devers, you'll be Stranded on base a LOT.
Yo dije que devers no perdió nada con ese cambio
6:30 lol any Red Sox fans ever see raffy run this hard down the line?
Vamo carita coño
Congratulations on getting 2 hits in your Giants debut, Raffy!!! Beat of luck in San Francisco!!!
So unfortunate that the Red Sox traded another homegrown star.
Gross
Any Red Sox fans here checking how Devers did his first game in SF? I know I am. We will truly miss his talent
Why isn't this guy speaking English already ?!
By golly we won a game!
This was a weird game.
Thanks Guardians 😉💙
9 years in Boston. 9 years in America….. STILL WON'T SPEAK ENGLISH!!!
baseball will break your heart
8:05 I think Matt Williams (3rd base coach) may have cost the Giants the game. That ball looked decently deep enough to bring in Lee to potentially tie the game, but was a 50-50 chance.
classic kwan game.
These two teams are unreliable, another division title for the Dodgers, this is so boring
Forever and Devers.
A shame Devers had to make his debut in those atrocious City Connects…
The Cleveland Guardians are 36-35🔵🔴⚪️💂♂️
Yo me la hubiese jugado y mando ese corredor al plato. Es el último inning, independientemente de que el tiro haya salido bien, pero pudiese haberse escapado al catcher, así no pierdo un juego…por no ejecutar.
Devers San Francisco Giants debut
They should make a special mention of the All-Star Game like Miguel Cabrera and Albert Pujols, my favorite for that special mention is Carlos Santana
Speaking as a Cleveland fan, I miss that buttery Jon Miller voice calling national broadcasts. Why is he not calling a single playoff game anymore??
Kwan!
I was at the game last night. Devers is a very good hitter but he will not be a superstar. He runs below average and most players would have turned that first hit
into a triple. Nonetheless, will take two hits from a DH every game and he will definitely help the offense. It is true that the Giants did not help themselves by going
1-13 with RISP and Schmitt's base running blunder. But Melvin mismanaged this one. In the 4th inning in a 2-2 game, he elected to have Fitzgerald bunt with two
on, no out. The problem is that the next batter was their catcher who is not a good hitter. Since it was early in the game, I would have preferred to have Fitzgerald
swinging away. I don't understand why Melvin was playing for one run so early. The Giants win when they have big innings. Then in the 6th inning Melvin elected to
pinch hit for the catcher down 3-2. This decision would come back to haunt them in the 8th inning. Again, the Giants get runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs with
Fitzgerald batting. Normally, you would have Fitzgerald bunting (a more appropriate time to bunt) to move the runners over. Problem was the back-up catcher
was on deck so they could not pinch hit for him. So, Melvin sends up Flores to pinch hit and he lines into double play (Schmitt base running blunder). If Melvin had
not pinch hit for the first catcher in the 6th inning, then he has Fitzgerald bunt the runners over and then send up Flores to pinch it for the starting catcher.
Even if they walk Flores, it's Lee up with the bases loaded and one out. I like those odds a lot better. Even if Schmitt does not get doubled up, you still have the back-up
catcher batting with runners at 1st and 2nd with one out. I also think Williams should have sent Lee on the Kwan catch and throw. Yes, the throw would have beat Lee
but it was a few feet to the left of home plate so it would have been a catch and dive by the catch to tag Lee, who is a good base runner. Again, I like those odds
much better than hoping Schmitt could even get a bat on the ball against the Guardians fireball closer. When the Giants did not send Lee, I knew the game was over.
As a fan, I would have rather seen the last out at home plate instead of a strikeout.
Man, the hits just keep on not coming. Come on, guys!
As a Sox fan, seeing Devers hitting that double made me so angry. What an absolutelly ridiculous situtation.
Devers brilla dónde quiera
Good to see Raffy happy. Hope he continues to kill it 👍🏻
New Giants fan here.
Got Jung Who Lee outta the 3 hole like any respectable MLB team would. THANK YOU RAFAEL
Devers looks good in that uni
It's crazy how fast he gone from 1 team to the other in the UK in football it takes months for a transfer with medical and tactics training etc he was playing with the red Sox 2 days ago now he on a different team 🤯
Why i keep thinking of Frosted Flakes when i see those Giants uniforms? Also, why players like Devers don't want to learn English?yall are grown men, that shouldn't be a problem learning English.
Thats why the Sport hasn't grown since Foundational Black American was taking over baseball because it's a huge language barrier. It lacks personality that those FBAS like Ken Griffey.Jr,Bo Jackson, etc. brought to the sport.
Denver’s looks happy now 😊
The Wrath of Kwan ❤️💙❤️💙❤️
The new city connects are cursed
Man thats multiple times now where Giants squandered a tie breaking run. Including against the dodgers.
LETS GO GUARD-DAWGS 🎉🎉🎉
Wrecked!
Every game way too many base runners left on base. And what is up with the base runners doing a cruddy job?
He is Lazy, Tremendous hitter. 8 yrs in the League and still can't speak English
