It would be interesting to see a clean and healthy Laine in action.
They're gonna trade Laine in March why would you extend him now. I love when he scores but when he doesn't you see what happens, nothing. He Helped Hutson reach that record that's for sure.
I’ll consider resigning Patrick at $4.5 million
There’s no way they will extend Laine now
Trading Demko is the only sensable thing to do. They need so much help down the middle and scoring in general they need to spend their assets on that deficiency. Hard to say what they can get for him but we are about to see real soon what they got up their sleeves with the magicians in Canucks management. They got a lot of work to do to get this team into a competitive position.
Laine is the biggest cancer in the league and hated by all players and coaches. Imagine how much more of a cancer he would be when they pay him less. He won’t even show up some nights if they pay him less.
If we can get him for under 5Mil sure besides that he can go somewhere else
Trade Laine, Newhook & Matheson
All one dimensional and soft to play against
Rather see Dach on line 2 with Demidov than Laine, also Caufield on PP1 left circle over Laine
Rather see Heineman at wing than Newhook, like Newhook but not skilled enough for top 6, not gritty enough for bottom 6, can’t win faceoffs, misfit toy all feet no hands
Rather see Hutson, Ghule, Xhekaj, Strubble, Engstrom or Trudeau play LD than Matheson, top 4 is not very big with Hutson & Carrier on it and Matheson brings no physicality, never mind his pizza servings that lead to goals against. Carrier was carrying his pairing defensively, Savard was the one doing all the physical work on PP even though he had lost a step, yeah Matheson looks great using his quick feet to a loose puck and icing it, but the slightest bit of pressure and his hot potato style of puck management needs to go
Trade Demko for a proven scorer preferred a center, but please, not for Laine he is not good defensively, and he has an ego just like Petey
Your offer from the other day for the # 2 pick, take that, remove Hage from it and put Lazy Laine in his place. Then it might be more digestible to Habs fans. He doesn't show that desire anywhere not just in Montreal. He is a pp specialist only, and a liability everywhere else. I don't expect San Jose would actually go for that.
Laine's mobility doesn't didn't seem to be break. Definitely a defense liability. Not really team culture friendly.
Trade him to jersey for Lucke Hughes and a center
Love to see Laine in Vancouver playing on Pettersson’s wing. But I wouldn’t trade any big pieces for him. If he wants to sign as a UFA sure, or if Montreal wants to dump the cap or take a smaller return I’d also be game. He’s not worth Demko or anyone important, but I’d trade a player that’s become less effective like Joshua.
Laine is a great PP guy but struggles at 5 v 5. I think we have enough reclamation projects and added another when we traded for him. MSL obviously is frustrated with his play putting him on the 3rd and 4th line a lot. I think they will explore a trade at some point. He doesn’t fit our top 6 and what we are building. He’s too expensive to be in a bottom 6 role.
