  1. I still believe in Skinner, it is not fair to judge him for that the whole team collapsed in the SCF. We would have lost even with Bobrowsky as our goalie and Stu as their… Stu did win for us against Oettinger two years in a row – is anyone claiming that Dallas needs a new goalie? Stu did steal a few games when the rest of the Oilers were not there to play… Last year in the finals Stu played good enough to bring us back into the series – in the game 7 we scored only once (who was it, yeah right Janmark, not our top 6). But we are still throwing Stu under the bus here, knowing that the rest of our squad almost didnt score a shit? Next year we will win the cup and that with 74 in the net! Lets go Oilers!💙🥳🧡

  2. They definitely have some changes to make. As long as they don’t make any rash decisions and do their homework, they should do okay. They definitely have to stop over paying players, players should earn their contract not be entitled to. As long as you are top heavy in salaries, you will never even out your roster.

  3. Coffey better be extended (if he wishes) because the D was doing very well up until the finals. One could say that was because of Ekholm coming back and wasn't 100% ready, but who really knows. But considering what Coff had to work with, they did quite well before that. He just needs to figure out what to with Bouchard and his wishy washy play.

  4. D needs to learn how to prevent opponents from skating as they please into high danger spots in front of their net. All of them need to learn this, it was extremely bad against Florida.

  5. Everyone’s talking like they such a failing team….they went to the Stanley Cup Final twice in a row, there still pretty dam good!

  6. I think Knoblauch is going to need about 10 more years NHL coaching experience before he can coach a team to a cup win.

  7. I know talking about this is probably not great right now. If the players on trial are not guilty, would the oilers take a chance on Carter Hart and would they be reinstated to play? Are they free agents if they are reinstated?

  8. The Oilers need to find a way to facilitate a trade with Boston to get Swayman. Swayman needs a change of scenery and the Oilers need that goaltender that just dominated the IIHF world champion ship last month

  9. Knoblauch is a CHL coach and before anyone tells me his record let’s remember he’s had McDrais prime carrying that, lossssst coach

  10. Coaching changes, i think so. Coming out of your own end needs to be more than shooting the puck down the ice hoping our forward touches it on the way into the offensive zone and then chase it. The Oilers couldn't do anything through the neutral zone. Problem? Coaching or skill level.

  11. First dump Schwartz ffs. Bouchard kane skinner should be gone. Perry will prob resign but he was one that showed up at the end.

  12. Definitely would be happy seeing Brown and Perry back. Brown is a solid penalty killer and was actually great in regular season and portion of the playoffs. We all know why we want Perry back right? Lol.

Goalies, not sure. But pickard makes more sense if gonna be changing one out or replacing on roster. Skinner still has a ceiling he has yet to reach being he is still a young goalie. No on Gibson, but someone like hofer from st louis, or lyon, or even Demko if could make money work.

  13. I think it's reasonable to think that McDavid will sign, but not long term – my guess is that he'll do like a 3-4 yr then see after that.

  14. The nice thing about having all the same defense is that we dont need to get defense at trade deadline so we could focus more on forwards at that time

  15. I think moving on from Kane and Arvidsson should happen. I'm a fan of Kane but his negative performance in the final was enough for a must move on situation. I'm not a fan of Skinner he just doesn't have the agility and quickness for my liking, so moving on is something I'm in favor of. I think we missed Holloway, now we need a burner who can bring what Holloway did. Would like if they could move Nurse but I doubt that will happen with his ticket. He could be harder to play against in my opinion. Make him watch Chris Pronger clips all summer or better yet hire Chris to advise Nurse.

  16. The Oilers problem is lack of cap space. Any increase is going to Bouchard so making changes won’t be easy. I’m not saying to do this but management should be examining the possibility of trading McDavid to get the depth players this team desperately needs. I’m not sure it’s feasible but would be interesting to think about.

  17. The only change needed is in goal. Edmonton needs a goalie…currently 2 above average goalies.

  18. Imagine you're McDavid relaxing at the Canada day BBQ when you check your bank balance and notice it just went up 11 million dollars. Now you're thinking, which other team can I go to that has gotten close to the Cup recently other than Edmonton, where my teammates are and who will undoubtedly offer 15 or 16 million per year.

  19. here is a idea, how many years have GMs, Coaches, and whever runs this team is trying to put together a winner with McDavid and Leon. To many as far as I am concerned expert hockey minds cant put a winning team together, so my suggestion is hire AI put it a office and have it run the team and you can pay McDavid what he is worth and forget all the expert hockey minds who dont know a da m thing

  20. I wonder if Anaheim would be interested in Kane. It’s California, I could see Kane accepting a trade there. I also wonder about Radko Gudas. He’s a PKer, is intimidating to play against and is a shutdown style player. Like Kane, he has one year left, but for 1.125 Million less. Oilers would have to add more if Gibson is involved.

  21. As a goalie I hate when critics and fans blame everything on the goalie (i.e. my Red Wings) as any NHL goalie that has laced his skates up in the modern era is 9 times better than any of the critics have ever played against. That being said Skinner looked out of place in several key moments and I don't blame him. That position is mental and when you don't know who is starting game 6 it shows that the team has a lack of confidence in you, how are you supposed to have confidence in yourself. I've said the problem with Canadian hockey is Canadians and their toxicity (see Toronto) and I am glad that the community you have here isn't nearly as toxic as across the river from Detroit but when the fan base hates you and management has no confidence in you, if you don't have that internal drive you don't have a chance. Just saying maybe Skinner is out of that drive and it would be a good thing for him and you guys to see different faces in the locker room.

As to McDavid's extension, I am interested to see if he's going to grab the money or do a more team friendly deal to leave cap space for depth. I can't imagine him in any other jersey except Edmonton. I say this because personally I think you ran out of depth, lets face it Panthers had Marchand on the third line. You had Jeff Skinner, who had less goals than Wallman. I hope he takes a team friendly deal and all the hockey fans get to see the best player in the world hoist the best trophy in the world.

  22. Defence and some of those lack luster forwards should go, Jeff skinner was the only
One who showed up in the final game, Bouchard or nurse one goes one stays pick one same as Pickard and stu pick one

  23. 1:40 The Oilers would be absolutely nuts to not make changes to the blue line because, well, the team allowed, in all six games of this past Stanley Cup final, at least three goals, including at least four goals in each of the last five games.

  24. Gibson is certainly not the answer; goalie coach most definitely. All of Edmonton's goalies for the past 11 years have not been crap. Who's the common denominator? Trade Skinner and he'll become a star somewhere else.
Connor Brown is definitely a keeper, hardest working guy on the ice.

  25. You make a good point. I believe that Edmonton had the better players this year, but Florida had the better team. Teams win cups. Maybe a different strategy is needed from the coaching staff.

  26. They need a Scott Stevens type defenceman. They need toughness. Imagine if Gretzky was nudged by a player like Brad Marshand like MacDavid was!? Semenko or McSorley would have pounded him into the middle of next season.

  27. There was nothing positive about what McDavid said especially if you read between the lines. He has a pretty good chance of not signing an extension. He would be nuts to stay in Edmonton
