Got wonder why these superstars of the Leafs can’t break thru. All the talk about balance and staying grounded, it sounds nice, but I think the ability to win a cup is not based on those attributes. You have to have an obsession with NOT LOSING , and doing all possible to not lose is what makes the Cup winners cup winners IMO. I don’t see this in the Leaf stars, sad to say. As an American hockey guy, I want Matthew’s to get a cup. But there is so far only proof alone he and the other Leaf stars aren’t willing to sacrifice enough. Tough nut.
I am grateful in knowing that a young man is grounded and has the strength to ignore the many thoughtless criticism of his play sometimes. He has learnt to protect himself through solid foundations. He uses his monies and personal time to totally support the community and children to improve their life skills and confidence by giving them an opportunity to step up. Good on you Mitch. As a fan I hope you stay in Toronto, continue to be theforce you are

Clickbait 4 sure. Agent probably released it. Not a chance he's worth over 11m a year. He's a very skilled mechanical player, too small and absolutely no murder instincts…..thus he's not a playoff hockey player. He can help you get there, after that he's doesn't cut it.

Not surprised he's into gaming. Bit surprised at level of charity work. He needs a PR person, because he comes off as a snotty self entitled punk, who's only into money, and refuses to be accountable. Humility is not in his DNA. Good player, but likely to do down as one of the Leaf's most disliked players in team history. Your effort to present another side of this guy is noble, because while he's generally seen as a jerk by most, the judgement is very harsh on him, and unfair to a degree.

You're leaving out some pretty key info during his contract negotiations. Marner and his team used Dregger and the media to blackmail the Leafs he was on his way to Europe if they didn't pay him like Matthews. Or how long it dragged right into the start of training camp. The expectations were set high by himself, and he didn't live up to them.
