Welcome to the redrafting of the 2022 NHL draft class. Who would the Montreal Canadiens select 1st overall with the knowledge they have about the players today? Juraj Slafkovsky? Lane Hutson? Logan Cooley?
Who would you pick 1st overall?

I can't agree there is an argument. Hutson would go first on a redraft by every team. He has already outscored Slaf from D! He is a unicorn. Slaf is going to be good but Lane might be the best in the NHL at his position and win a Norris or three. Is Slaf ever going to win an Art Ross or Richard?

With hindsight, you gotta take Lane unfortunately. He's just too good. I still think by the time he's 23, Slaf will be an absolute beast but no one in the class will be close to Lane. He'll probably be fighting for Norris's every year. I don't see any forward in 2022 as even being top 20 forwards
Slavkosky is too soft … too polite … needs to shorten his stick 1/4 inch so that he skates bent over more …. increase the height of his stick blade by 1/8 of an inch cause he missies reception of passes too often …. needs to better his first three steps exceleration …. MAYBE change his skate brand with a higher heal to force him to play less standing up ……
If Slafkovsky doesn't bring it from October till the end of the season Hughes will have a big decision to make with him.
If Slafkovsky gets 65 points I'll be happy.
Number one priority in Montreal is to convert Arber Xhekaj to a winger … he is not a great d-man (decision making) but he can do the same type of work the fourth line the Florida Panthers did. He can skate like hell and hit anyone that moves in his area of the ice…….. IMO, WIFI is an untouchable. Martin St-Luois does not understand that a nuclear deterrant or two on a team is essential.
.. Place his brother Florian on the opposite wing or center and bring in Rangers Will Cuylle (6-3/212, with 301 hits last season) and now you have the very best 2-way and meanest 4th line in the NHL. ..
