hey Trent um I guess can we talk there’s there’s a rumblings out there about a contract extension can give us an update uh you’re close to one what have you heard uh yeah I think um I think we’re talking the agent’s talking and hopefully uh something will get done here now can you kind of give us a gauge now that the year is over just what percentage were you at because if you go to NHL edge and you just look at pure speed in Boston to Edmonton it’s night and day can you talk about just maybe how limited you were with the ankle um yeah i don’t I don’t know it’s hard to like put a percentage on something but uh I don’t know they did a really good job to the medical staff to get me to feel the best I could and um as uh as I kept playing it it got better and better is it safe to say though you feel that you got a lot more when you’re healthy than what you were able to do in the playoffs yeah I mean I’m not really like thrilled with exactly how I played uh through through the playoffs but um you know that’s the past it’s it’s hard to look back and have a lot of stuff to work on and I’m excited about that trent you came in here and obviously trying to get over that injury you only had the one I think regular season game what was it like to kind of jump into the playoffs and try and get right back up to speed that couldn’t have been easy and then what was it like kind of fitting in with these guys knowing that the the end goal was to win the cup yeah I mean um you know when you when you come when you get traded at deadline you want to come to a team that that has a chance and um you know getting that opportunity was was awesome and um obviously it’s not ideal to just hop in uh and play right in the playoffs but uh you know they made me feel comfortable um in the sense of our style and everything and um I think after the first couple games I got more comfortable and felt better just following up on that a little bit what was it about being here and the team and the city and the situation that that makes you want to commit long term to the Oilers uh I think it’s just you know playing this time of year I think uh with this group and um you know having a chance to do that uh year in year out I think is is why I would I’d love to be back here and uh just everyone that’s at at the rink like uh it’s pretty impressive when I first got here how genuine nice everyone is and um you know they treat you it’s a first class organization they treat you very well um from just travel to you know taking care of your family and stuff like that so uh Trent when you uh came here via trade Stan Bowman was saying that he think he sees you either as a third line center or as a top six winger and I know injuries and trying to get your feet up and running and all that kind of maybe put you down on the lineup a little bit but is that where you see yourself being if you’re able to stay with this team in the long term uh yeah i mean I think um I’ve never really been slotted like anywhere i feel like I’ve played all over the lineup uh you know mostly bottom six uh in my career in Boston and um you know I would love to get opportunities and stuff like that but it’s you got to earn it and um I think one of the things that um I think can make me a value is I can play left center and right um I would love to play more center it’s tough uh sometimes just to hop into a new team and uh you know guys have taken thousands of faceoffs throughout the year and you’ve only taken a couple that can make it pretty difficult but I would love to love to play I don’t know center right or left it’s it’s hard to say but I I would love to another chance to play center you know in the NHL full time what is what is it about center that that intrigues you because I understand you played a lot of more on the wing right uh yeah I’ve played mostly on the wing um in my career um the last two playoffs I played center uh but played wing throughout the whole regular season um it’s I don’t know it’s uh it’s the position I played my whole life uh you’re you’re pretty involved you can get your skate you know skating more in the Dzone uh you have that more defensive uh responsibilities and um I don’t know i think it’s more the the flow of the game and and be able to move move around the ice trent I do want to ask you they’ve been saying that you know the the the the talk on the ice and the nastiness on the ice was like at another level in this in this Stanley Cup i was wondering could you give us an inside maybe a peak at what it was like being on the ice and how much kind of vitual was there between the two teams um yeah I I don’t know if I can Yeah there there was some chirping going on going on i don’t think it’s anything crazy like uh anything more different than when we whenever I’ve played Florida in the past uh and I’ve played them three years in a row um I don’t know i guess they like to run run their mouth but they were I don’t think they were you know anything different than the last couple years trent what did you learn about what it takes to win at all having now gone to game six of the Stanley Cup final um yeah I mean it’s it’s um it’s extended season like you um you know we’re almost in July so um you know it takes a lot mentally physically um you know even the sense of uh handling everyone you know everything when you keep going on and on everything is upscaled from people asking from tickets uh you know family coming just the whole the whole um the whole process of all that so uh it was you know a great experience and obviously want to get back

  1. The NHL is coming for the oilers and avalanche. Both landeskog and kane under investigation. The refs weren't consistent with officiating this series but at least they are being consistent with their investigations. Even though Colin camblls brothers is floridas GM, im happy the NHL is also investigating Tkachuk for LTIR abuse

  2. Trent looks like Ashton Kutcher and Pedro Pascal created a person using CRISPR DNA sequencing. And thats not a dis.

  3. Total waste of money to sign a guy who will probably be lucky to score 10 goals am i missing something?

  4. Its gonna be a good contract… Too many Oilers fans are too short sighted with him he's only 27, big and physical. Kane and Rico most likely will be gone so were gonna need Big Fred

  5. Everyone is so quick to hate, the cap is going up, signing this now to avoid a possible 5-5.5 in 2 years time is worth it, 40 points on 13 minutes a night 23-24 season is pretty damn solid as a bottom 6 forward, you can’t judge his playoffs when he’s playing with a high ankle sprain which completely diminishes your ability to skate or do what he does best and finish his checks

  6. $4 mill x 8 years is a crazy overpay. But its SOoooooooooo Oilers to not leverage the fact they have 97 on the team. Constant idiotic GM's shooting themselves in the foot is our culture now.

  7. Only 8 million left in cap space after this signing, and Bouchard will take all that up when he signs a new deal, so we will see what bowman has up his sleeve??

  8. Bring him back, he’ll fight, and win his fights, like the comment , they like to run their mouths, Oilers win the Stanley cup 3 years in a row starting 2026

  9. This guy is a joke. One of the worst players i watched in a while and they are paying this guy like 40 million for 8 years πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  10. Dude is a beast when healthy. Casuals want to act like GMs, but this guy will play a key role going forward.

  11. I look forward to seeing you in an oilers jersey for many more years Trent!! Seeing the Healthy and strong Trent Frederic and what he can do!πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ😊

  12. If he can do 40 points and kill penalties it will be worth it. He didnt see any ice time until the play offs, Knoblauch isnt really a players coach.

  13. Vegas beat EDM and FLA for a cup. How come EDM couldn't beat FLA, even with the two most overrated players ever. EMBARRASSING. 🀣 Canadians are a joke.

  14. YAY FREDDIE πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ’™πŸ§‘πŸ’™
I really hope you stay on the team for a long time!! Wishing you good healing over the summer πŸ™

  15. Ive watched this kid lots when he was with Boston, hes a very good player with grit and fights a lot, i was surprised how docile he looked with us in this playoff run…. However he is one of those younger players that we need to commit long term. Henrique, Kane, Arvidsson, Skinner, these useless oldies need to go.

  16. Buddy did nothing for us in the playoffs. Nothing and getting 4 million for 8 years ? He cant skate fast, doesnt fn hit, has no hands … wtf ?

  17. as a player it seems annoying to get dragged in front of all these reporters like a hearing.. nice that people care though.

  18. Great guy and solid signing. Humble and hard working player. Welcome to Edmonton for the long haul Trent!

  19. We need a Healthy πŸ’ͺ🏾 Trent for next season with Evander kane πŸ’ͺ🏾 that will ve a very INTERESTING LINE πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ
IDD STICK THEM ON 4TH LINE AND FOCUS ON A INCREDIBLE 3RD LINE FOR DEPHT for next season if the budget fits it

  20. As A Bs fan who saw him at his best and not so best, he's a great guy to have on your 3rd or 4th line. It's not about the goals so don't get your hopes up there. It's about what he does when the puck is nowhere in sight. Tough as hell on the backcheck, relentless on the forecheck and an excellent enforcer when he's healthy.
