Penguins President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas said the team could look at trading for and signing RFAs, and a pretty promising one could be available. Patrick and Hunter start the show discussing the possibility of the Penguins going after Dallas Stars’ forward Mavrik Bourque, who could be available via trade after Dallas re-signed Matt Duchene. Bourque seems to fit exactly the type of player Dubas and the Penguins have been targeting: young, affordable, and with a lot of upside. Then, we get the first two installments of Hunter’s Penguins Draft Board. They first talk about maybe their favorite prospect, Victor Eklund, a Swedish forward who would be a slam-dunk pick for the Penguins. Then, to finish the show, they talk about Lynden Lakovic and how he would be a stretch at 11, but still not a bad pick.

One of Eklund,O’Brien or McQueen will be at 11 and that has to be the penguins pick. I know hunter isnt the biggest fan of McQueen but I trust the penguins to get the potential out of him.

Hot take John Tortorella as an assistant coach would make a well rounded coached team. The three together checks everything one could want. New people, good at developing, good with veterans, well known, lots of experience in nhl, former player, Stanley cup champion as a player and as a coach. Old school new school. Plus he’d be a lot of fun.
You look more into it, depth wasn't the problem for Edmonton. They outscored their opponents 24-11 and were 4-4 during the final. The mcdavid crew was allowing too many goals against focusing too much on offense. Their issue was team defense and goaltending… But there's more to it than just goaltending, I don't see a world where a great goalie has them winning, defense needs to be fixed and they NEED to separate mcdavid and draisital to have any chance, they should both be able to run their own lines… i.e Sid/Geno 3x champs.
Id be calling Florida seeing if you could get samoskevich was available… Love that speed and think hed be a better add then borque.
