I guess those Canadian commercials about "this is Canada's year to bring back the cup" didn't work out. Why would Canada politicize hockey? Canadians, Americans,Finns, swedes, Russians, Germans on all nhl hockey teams. The USA didn't win the Stanley cup the team from Florida did but for some reason Canadians feel Canada lost the Stanley cup. Silly. Congrats to Florida for the victory and congrats to Edmonton for a nice playoff run.
Hate to say it but that might have been mcdavids chance at a cup. Its rare for a player to play in multiple cup finals…i just feel like they had to win this year or they will probably never get another chance at it.
As a lifelong hockey fan (not a fan of any team in particular) I thought Edmonton was going to win the cup entering the playoffs. They have the best hockey player in the world on their team, probably another top 10 player, and talented defenseman.
Florida would just dump and chase which the high level game moved away from a decade ago. Florida had 4 lines to throw at Edmonton. Florida had a roster filled with talented 2 way players and exceptional talented defensive forwards.
They ground and smothered Edmonton along with getting better play out of their goaltending.
Florida makes me re-think hockey strategy which is the greatest compliment you could give a team.
Long time waiting for my panthers to be too strong on This league. 3 years in the road in the final with 2 championships. This team it’s a legacy for long time .

Neutral fan here who was leaning toward Edmonton. The better team won, Edmonton has a great team but Florida was just a few notches better.
