lol, there was nothing McDavid could do, they almost completely shut him down and Draisaitl. They just hounded them and prevented them from getting any space. They needed a guy like Hyman to create more space.
Then again TSN, Sportsnet and all the pundits have been betting against the Oilers from the get go, why would it change. They beat the odds and made it to the finale, they ran out of juice, they needed Hyman more than most thought. The Oilers steam rolled through the playoffs, beating teams that most said they couldn't beat. They also are better than ever, they just couldn't adapt to the Panthers, couldn't make the defence work with Ekholm back, couldn't replace Hyman properly.
Next year will be different.
If McDavid signs with the Leafs and ends the curse, he will be the GOAT. No question about it.
If he leaves Edmonton prior to winning a Cup, that will tarnish his legacy. He'd be nothing but a ring chaser searching for the easy road, rather than lead his team.
Why is game 5 this year a bigger game than game 5 or 6 last year. For that matter why was game 3 this year one of the 4 career games, but game 4 was not???? That is just a stupid analysis. In elimination games in stanley cup finals McDavid is 3 and 2.

Bryan Hayes is a hater, almost as if he's that one person that always has to have a different opinion. i love the Oilers but man Florida is not getting enough credit for how locked in they were defensively. Anyone who knows anything about hockey knows that defence wins games, it starts in your own end. Edmonton unfortunately lost in that department.

I disagree, there's much more to it then that. Grets growing up had a fraction of the amount of competitors to compete against. Just an easy example if 100 kids grow up playing a sport your odds of making it pro in that sport is much higher just due to numbers as well has the skill gaps being much higher. Also the salary cap plays a role, i get the league bigger so more total pros can get selected but the amount of kids having the opportunity to play the game has outpaced that by like 1000 and mcdavids unanimously #1 in the league, no debate, and he would have won his second conn Smythe in a row if he had stepped on the ice to receive it last year, no question.

Dream come true if the Leafs get their hometown boy back. I’d be totally fine with a step back/mini rebuild year similar to what the Bruins just did and make sure you have max cap to sign McDavid in 2026…🙏
It’s an easy decision for McDavid. Take a little less money so a goalie might be signed or take all that you deserve and keep playing in front of a starting goalie that’s only worth 2.6 per season.
