Jeremy Swayman Highlights Positive Points From Bruins Season
through your mind right now i mean first and foremost disappointment not playing right now and uh that’s something that you know we all can learn from this taste in our mouth and just move forward and not let it happen again what do you feel like you have to work on next year to improve i think you know the learning that I had this year uh just with you know one the games played that was awesome and and just getting to know my body knowing where my mental’s at and and wanting more and feeling really good is something I could really build on uh but you know I take accountability i wanted to play better i know that I I can play better and that’s something that I can’t wait to work on and uh this team is going to be a lot different next year with you know what we learned from this year and you know we got a lot to look forward to do you feel like playing more games wore you down quicker no and that’s why I I I commented on that i’m so happy with the way my body felt and my mind felt and again just being hungry you know every game expecting to play and and getting a nod and you know wanting to give my team a chance to win every single night and um you know a huge testament to the trainers here and the work that you know we’ve put in to allow my body to attain that physical load in retrospect Jeremy do think the missraining camp put you behind the eightball i think yeah we’re allowed to talk about that we’re allowed to you know make that apparent but it’s a long season and you know one thing that I really want to be is a guy and a goalie that can stay in the moment and really focus on the here and now and not let past stuff affect my present and I think you know moving forward I can’t wait to be a part of training camp and use it as a an extremely valuable piece to start a season having compete obviously getting to know the guys right before the season starts and and setting a standard and uh I can’t wait to be a part of it again was was this a challenge this year to stay present maybe more than other seasons just given the way you know things started trying to make sure that you weren’t sort of like looking back and and continue to stay in the moment where you are i think so i think that’s a you know a great perspective because we’ve had a lot of success you know coming out of the gate in the past and having this adversity is uh probably good for us you know especially the core guys that have seen success for a long time right out of the gate and how we attained it and you know that wasn’t met this year so we need to go back to our roots and and understand how important it is to start a season it’s hard to win in this league and and it’s hard to win you know when you’re trailing so that’s something that we’re going to implement big time uh come training camp time and I know that every guy in this room is going to take their summer very seriously and come with a a new attitude of of winning hockey jeremy do you listen to the outside noise at all or are you able to block it out i am able to block it out and that’s that’s something that I’ve always done is you know I really want to make sure that I’m staying in the moment and in the present i know that I perform my best when I’m just playing for the guys in this room and indirectly it’s playing for the people on the outside and that’s the best feeling ever is to have success for uh you know the Boston logo and obviously this city that deserves so much and I can’t be more grateful to be in the position I’m in and you know I want to have that passion i’m thankful for the passion these fans have and there’s nothing better than winning in Boston and that’s what motivates me the most so I’m just so grateful to be in this this position and have you know all the lights and cameras on us because that’s what we work so hard for and that’s why it’s so special to play in Boston and you know we owe this community uh this fan base so much and I can’t wait to attain that next year jeremy whether whether it was external or internal does did the the contract and the role does that bring pressure did that affect you at all i think it just brought opportunity and again I’m I’m grateful that the the management believed in me and to put me in this position and again what I learned this year is uh going to be really beneficial for a lot of years to come and I know that I could lean on every year for experience and this is one of those years that I’m going to lean on in in hard times per se and we found ways to get out of it at times it was just hard for us to get rolling and the formula’s in here and that’s something that was really exciting for us and even with all the changes that we had and the adversities per se we still found ways to find success and obviously in this game it’s depicted on wins wins and losses and that’s something that we know that we need to change next year for the better and uh I can’t be more excited to get back at it and make sure that we’re doing the right things that we need to do based on the the lessons that we learned from this year how you want to structure your off season yet i have and I think you know a lot for me is going to be on ice development and really making sure that Sorry you’re running around uh just making sure that I’m I’m fixing pieces of my game that need to be better and I think you know a lot of great strides are made this year my puck play was you know really taking strides forward it’s the communication with my Dmen uh was really I think it helped us a lot down the stretch and you know the breakouts that we were having were a lot more easy and it seemed like a lot more efficient so uh obviously want to keep my strength and conditioning up want to be one of the best athletes in the room and want to push my teammates want to push myself and I know that that’s going to get us success what was it like working with us this year oh the best yeah really grateful to have him by my side and uh a great veteran that has been through a lot you know in this league and fought and clawed and and had success so I was able to lean on him and a lot of times this year and I can’t thank him uh enough for being you know that brotherly figure and you know more than a teammate kind of thing and it’s it’s really special to have that i’ve been so fortunate to have good goalie partners in the NHL and and he’s definitely up there with him so uh I can’t wait to go back uh back to work with him next year and I know it’s going to be a good good result separate from wins and losses uh this was the workload you wanted you long wanted so close to 60 games what was the mental and physical nuance to doing that just performing that amount again I think the biggest thing was just sticking to my routines and and trusting my routines and again not having really any issues was a huge positive and a huge motivator for me and knowing that my work that I do in the offseason and obviously during the season too the preparation and recovery uh it all factors into performing on the ice and whatever I need to do um between the hours of puck drop is is something that I take pride in and to get results you know every game of being at the top of my game maybe more of a mental exercise than you would anticipated I would say so I think that’s something that you really can’t gain unless you go through it and again I think I had the confidence you know I never lost the confidence and even we weren’t getting results we weren’t you know winning the right way or losing the right way that’s something that was testing you know my confidence and abilities but that’s good and that’s something that I needed to go through and found ways to get out of it and still find you know ways to perform and again just my routines recoveries all the preparation allowed myself to feel good confidently and and mentally are you in the mix for worlds i’d like to be yeah I would love to go represent uh I haven’t directly but uh I would love to go represent my country i think the perception of you is now defined by what happens next perception of you as a goalie so the way people will look at the at at at you and where you stand in the game where you stand as a as a player defined by by what you do next now come coming off of a of a tough year and is that motivating of course it’s motivated i think you know you’re only as good as your last game and that’s that’s how it should be you have to live in the moment and you know we have guys in this locker room that are so good about you know making sure that they’re playing their best one game at a time one shift at a time and that’s something that I’ve held you know as a standard of mine and and the culture that we’ve set here is we have to win and uh that’s exactly what I wanted to be and again that’s a testament to the amazing fans we have in Boston obviously hockey fans alike and I want to be a top top goalender in this league and I know that I have the ability to do that and it’s going to be a really good feeling to make sure that we’re coming to work every day and and earning that you’re somebody that’s always seems to have a positive attitude even when some parts of this year weren’t as easy um how important is that for you to just keep yourself you know mentally looking at things in a positive way is that just kind of how you always have been is there you know is there a reason behind it or is it just that’s how you get through everything it’s a lot easier said than done but uh exactly i think you just have to look at it as a gratitude perspective and how grateful we can be you know to be in this moment right here having the ability to talk to you having the ability to have a team be in the NHL i mean we have so much to be grateful for and that’s something that I could really simplify it down to and and come to work every day with a reason and that’s something that for me positivity has been really beneficial and um you know the spiritual mindset I’ve had with nature with perspective has really helped me a lot and it’s been a a different road you know living in a city and and you know coming kind of away from my homegrown roots but that’s something that I’ve found the beauty you know in the position I am now and where my two feet are right now and how amazing it is and it’s pretty hard to have a bad day when you think when you think like that so uh I I love the ability to just be in the moment and and be perfect in my present self you spent all of last summer here is that kind of the plan this summer as well are you going to maybe get out and maybe get get a little space this summer yeah I think I’ll definitely stick around here i want to be you know where the training hot bed is and and again my job is year round and uh everything I do is going to help me perform on the ice better so I’ll stick around here and get some mountains uh in the meantime
Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman discussed getting to lean on veteran goalie Joonas Korpisalo throughout the season while focusing on the positives that the team experienced this year as they prepare for the offseason.

You have a lot to do with why they Bruins aren't in the playoffs. No one wants to hear the blah blah blah. Shut up and stop the puck!!
41 among goalkeepeers and he have so much fun ,i would Walk in The canals.
It's complete insult to the fans to make such videos
Good grief….everything is some type of magical “learning experience” for this kid. I’m so over it…..
I've got a great idea, how about you give back your contract money and renegotiate your deal. I'm guessing it wouldn't be quite as lucrative after this season.
The cities that these teams are in need to own the teams, and make the decisions for the teams. Players should get payed for performance, not future performance.
One thing we should all be able to agree on is Sweeney screwed up the whole goalie situation from start to finish.
Getting to know your body ,and were my mental is at ,,,, I bet you were not satying These things at your HUGE contract negotiations
omg these comments are evil. he's just a guy trying his best. the truth is the whole team needs some work and we will see how next season goes.
