There was some solid players that couldve been brought in to help that team but they just went with the same team pretty much and you cant do that you have to build your team up for the playoff push…

Over half the team were just watching and coasting the last 3 games. Goaltending from skinner wasn't great and defence namely Nurse and Bouchard sucked. That's why we lost.

Oilers need to retire Nuge and Hyman on the bottom 6 and get younger and stronger top 6 wingers.

But look at how the salary cap between the 2 teams is so different. They have a bunch of really strong players between 7-10 million. Where as oilers are basically either you’re making 5 million or 12.5 and 14 million.

Oilers lost mostly because Maurice is a 20 times better coach than Knoblauch. Maurice has a team system and Knoblauch just wings it. His lack of NHL coaching experience cost the Oilers 2 cups so far.
The way the series went last year probably made the oilers think they were closer to the panthers than they really were. The way this series went is probably more accurate as to how far apart they truly are. Now would be the time to reassess and move on from these two years. Great season nonetheless and had lots of fun.
Skinner had the honest answer of all of them. And they still blame him for everything 😂😂😂. He was not bad . He is not on Babrovsky or Vasylevsky level but he is not bad.
People love to hate on greatness but mcdavid in back to back years has played incredible in the playoffs and leon too for that matter. People forget that mcdavid won the conn smythe in last years finals. The bigger story is that the panthers from the top down are an incredible team, not that the oilers suck

McDavid is the best player I am told but he is not a team guy loving hockey and being around the guys. Connor lives in his own world void of intimate relationships with his teammates outside of Draisaitl. Edmonton is Toronto of the West. Arrogant bunch of individuals living in their own universe. No team concept, No fun, No alternative systems to employ.
Trade McDavid for a big haul of players who are willing to give it their all. McDavid might be the best but I question his heart. Seeing the top line supporting Mark Carney's "elbows up" was the writing on the wall…. Oilers are mentally weak!!! Stupid!!! Selfish!!! This team as it is will never win the cup!!!

Florida was just too much
Skinner should have had maybe 1 goal..Wasn't his fault that Bouchard and Nurse gave the puck away so many times…Especially Bouchard
Ekholm wasn't that good either
Florida pressure was just too much

Honestly last year was a lot harder to stomach. This year the last two games made it obvious Florida was the best team.

Loved watching the Oilers run this year but Florida was the better team – ever since Ekholm came back the defensive pairings were never the same. Granted Florida forecheck was lights out, but Kulak and Ekholm were exposed consistently. Also, I don't remember seeing so many of Edmontons defensive shots not making it past the first line of defense and getting blocked. Not enough pucks on net and crazy good D by FLA. Edmonton will be back they just need a few tweaks on defense, a top line winger, and a new goalie (so maybe more than a few tweaks).
Oilers brass let Carney wear an Edmonton jersey for a photo-op, the curse is ON !!….
