Excerpts from Luke Prokop statement to NHL and Predators fans supporting him.
Prokop thanked his “amazing family, friends and agents — who have known this about me and met me with love and support every step of the way.”
“I hope that in sharing who I am I can help other people see that gay people are welcome in the hockey community, as we work to make sure that hockey is truly for everyone,” Prokop wrote. “I may be new to the community, but I am eager to learn about the strong and resilient people who came before me and paved the way so I could be more comfortable today.”
“As NHL players, we all strive to contribute toward helping our teams achieve success on the ice. Any player who can help in those efforts should be welcomed as a teammate,” defenseman Ron Hainsey, then an NHLPA executive board member, said at the time. “This partnership solidifies the message that the hockey community believes in fairness and equality for everyone.”
“I share his hope that these announcements can become more common in the hockey community,” Bettman said in a statement. “LGBTQ players, coaches, and staff can only perform at their absolute best if they live their lives as their full and true selves. We do not take the meaning and importance of this announcement lightly.”

The headline threw me off momentarily. It said #predators and I forgot that there was an NHL team by that name. I thought it was a "To Catch A Predator" clip.
Nobody cares about a player that will never make the NHL
I think the Predators should buy out his contract and kick him to the curb.. Then the Bruins can get him because we need help on defense up here.

I mean good for him I guess. He’s gonna be praised and considered a hero so I don’t see what the big deal is. People still act like it’s 2005. Everybody will support him and if they don’t they’ll be the ones criticized.

I am going to be straight forward on this. Why do Gay people feel the need to tell everyone they are Gay, I for one could care less, you are human and just play hockey, I am beyond that. Just be you and do not push it on me and we are good. By the way I am straight. Life goes on……..One more thing, if you suck, we will not care you are Gay, when you get booed, it will not be because you are Gay.
Make sure your keep kids away from him, especially the little boys!
