“We were the better team more games than not” – Avs Center Brock Nelson with MLK on ASR

Avalanche Center Brock Nelson joined the show today, after he signed a 3-year contract extension last week. He’s currently moving his family out here and is still looking for a house in Colorado (does anyone know a good realtor? Anyone?)

Brock reflected on his squad’s early playoff exit and the lessons they learned this year. The hockey gods are cruel, and Nelson feels like they squandered a golden opportunity.

  1. So admittedly I enjoy the Avs for their talent and fun to watch. Not a fan but love puck and when I lived in Denver used to go to quite a few games. 2022 was a season that went so perfectly not anyone but most teams in tnat position would have won it. That said since then something just seems off. Hockey compared to the traditional 4 majors is so different in playpffs vs reg season there just seems to be something not quite right. Yes the players hurt ect but great teams get past that. With this core the idea of development seems less important but it seems that this has gurt them more in the sense that when they have had injuries they have very little to bring up to keep it afloat until the playoffs.

What they did at the trade deadline last season on paper was amazing but it still got them nowhere. Again it is fair to point out that playing Dallas in the first round was a bit wonky but bothteams played. The Makar thing is so weird because the last two playoffs he has been kinda human. Again it does not mean you trade him. It’s just what it is.
Admitredly Dallas had the weirdest flippin playoff stats I have seen in quite awhile. Literally made very little sense. People always say this after a season ends like this but this off season and season will be very important to many in the org. In my opinion I would trade Necas. He seems to be exactly what Car dod not like avout him. Again playoff hockey is such a different universe vs regular season. Not sure he is built for that at his ask.

  2. Colorado got screwed again by refs all season and playoff long. Bettman loves his hot citys trying to make hockey bigger there so stupid
