Winnipeg Jets 2nd Line Centre Rumours



The Winnipeg Jets will be one of the many teams looking to add a 2nd line centre this offseason. With many names floating around, I compiled 3 players that Winnipeg could be looking at.

    Yes to Karlsson – ALWAYS liked him. His experience and skillset would be an ideal #2 C. Toews – Okay I guess, but probably not a #2 C. He's more of a situational add. Play him on a line with Vilardi and see which plays Center better, switching them up as required. Give them a grinder and go. Pop Perfetti up with Scheifele and Connor so Vilardi could play with Toews and someone with some grinder/angst/muscle. No thanks to Rossi. No more little guys.

    Bro, what everyone is forgetting about Jonathan Toews is a number of things. 1, he’d be great for business, the amount of toews jerseys sold would be through the roof. 2, everyone would want to see him play at home so they would go. And 3, the most important, Lowry is out for a few months. Put him on that 3rd line and see how he performs

    The biggest question is Cap Space. If the Jets sign Ehlers, Vilardi and Samberg to FMV contracts there is only $2.5 M of 2025/2026 cap space left. If Ehlers doesn’t sign then there is room. Doesn’t matter who is available you have to have the Cap Space.

    perfetti might work at 2c if they can't get one. He grew so much during the season, but we'll see.

    Toews might be 37, but he wouldn't come back if he didn't think he could play. (looks at the panthers and oilers who have older players contributing a LOT) That being said – I wouldn't put him at 2C unless he "proves" it.

    IMO, with rossi under sized doesn't mean shit. Look at fets. He's considered undersized, but prickfeti has arrived. Rossi can definitely find a game like that if we sign him that wiuld be huge. He just needs constant opportunity.

    On toews, i think either him or namestikov would be 2-3c while lowry is out. But i think the biggest reason i do like toews is even if its fallen off a little bit from 60% his faceoff percentage. I think hed be a good and helpful player for the younger guys and even schiefelle for faceoffs.

    Martin Necas wants to play at center position . He is fast and would be good on the pp if we don't sign Ehlers . He is 26 years old .

    I think the thought that a second line center fixes this team is lunacy. We need a lot more than just a 2nd line center. We sucked this playoff run, absolutely sucked statistically in every way, and in my opinion, didn't even deserve to get out of the 1st round. Ehlers is gonna be gone, and next year is gonna be tough because, as usual, Chevy will do nothing, and we'll do nothing as a team as a result. We were a good regular season team, and that was it, but the regular season doesnt matter as long as you get into the playoffs youre good, you have just as much a chance as anyone else, getting first place means almost less than nothing. If you do nothing in the playoffs it means nothing. This team isnt built for a deep playoff run and that was made painfully clear to me this run.

    Gabe Vilardi and Cole Perfetti are both more than viable options. Unfortunately, the Jets seem to not even want to give them a chance….

    You will never win with Neal Pionk on defence. He was responsible AGAIN for four goals against in playoff games.
    And you all said “Like OMG, like you have to play Pionk because like Nate Schmidt just isn’t a top 6 D.” Well who was right, and who was wrong
