  1. Might as well go for
Mikael Granlund before going after Ehlers. My opinion

And I really wish you’d lay off Kk. You have zero proof that they want to “get rid of”him.

Also, Jarvis is a Center – please stop ignoring that. And that Canes paid him 67 million plus a 30 million sign on. FARR more than KK.

  2. Agree on investing in center rather than overpaying for a "pretty good" winger. Also I'm pretty sure Tim guessed the exact margin of victory for OKC the other night and I just want to make sure that is publicly acknowledged and appreciated.

  3. This is going to be a fun off-season for us Canes fans…..So many trades and free agents that we can go after especially with Dallas's two first round picks.

I doubt Roslovic comes back. If we have him or Kotkaniemi as 2C, I doubt we will ever get past Florida.

Granlund, Duchene and Bennett would be upgrades over KK and Roslovic and im good with Jankowski as 4C

  4. Paying Marner 14 million a year when he doesnt even fill a pressing need would be NEXT LEVEL DUMB. Got to have a REAL 2nd line center,

  5. I'm a Jets fan first and I don't wanna lose Ehlers. But if he does go I want him in Carolina not as the big fish but as a solid guy to have. I get Marner is better overall because his two-way is pure Carolina style but Ehlers is also a guy that fits right in. He has all the speed and will help us create offence. We struggled at times in Florida with zone-entries. Ideally this off-season I'd trade KK for next to nothing. Which leaves them with 33.2 to work with. I don't want Marner. If Marner would accept 12-12.5 then I'm not mad but if you're paying $14M on a guy who continuously doesn't show up in playoffs. Losing 14M$ for Marner is not smart. That leaves you with 19M which sounds like a lot but when you have to pay $9M for the best center and defenseman available each to me that's not smart. Now if we were to dump KK like I said but also get rid of maybe Carrier or Walker then we have a discussion that doesn't hurt as much.
    My off-season idea:

    Sign Granlund $6.5MX3Y 33.2-6.5 = 26.7 remaining
    Sign Ehlers $8MX6Y = 18.7 remaining.
Sign Fabbro $6MX7Y = 12.7 remaining (Doubt we get Ekblad)

Now I'm trying to trade out here for a Carolina styled player. DAL 2026 and 2027 thirds back for Marchment (may be an overpay may be under I don't know.) So then you have Marchment. 12.7 – 4.5 = 8.2 remains. Then I'd say if you want more just sign Donato if you can. $6MX3Y could be ideal for Donato. Adds even more to an already top 5 team in the league. If you want more wiggly room than the $2.2M you have leftover then you can trade Ghost or Walker or Carrier.

    Ehlers-Aho-Jarvis
    Svechnikov-Granlund-Donato
    Marchment-Staal-Hall
    Martinook-Stankoven-Blake

    Slavin-Fabbro
    Nikishin-Chatfield
    Walker-Ghost

My edited version adds Donato to that. Which looks extremely stacked. Some may say underwhelming off-season but I'd say that's a really exciting off-season that sets the team up extremely well. You're getting 2 guys built for Canes hockey with Ehlers, Marchment. and two other solid top 6 guys with Granlund and Donato. Pretty good.

  6. The Marner/Dad situation is nowhere near recent sour grapes. His contract holdout in 2019 is the time when the dad thing came into play.

  7. I think KK will still improve and be ultimately a replacement for Jordan. Marner has zero grit like Bennett or Marchand. We've got two rookie starters on defense to replace Burns and Orlov. If Nikishin keeps his head in place, guaranteed Calder. I agree with Tim – a big center – do a trade.

  8. I would move Stankoven to the 2nd line, whether that be to play him at Center or play him at RW. A 2nd line of Robertson-Stankoven-Marner or Ehlers-Thompson-Stankoven would be very interesting.

  9. Marner i honestly haven't watched his gameplay but 14m is to much considering the last time the leafs won the stanley cup? If they have

  10. DO NOT SIGN MARNER.
Toronto players are chokers! He is nothing without Mathews.
We need finishers, he’s a play maker!!

  11. We are not getting the superstars. They don’t want to play in Raleigh. Baffles me. Live in the triangle for three months, and you’d want to stay. Marner already sounds like a headache. Who knows?

  12. You guys keep talking about Tage Thompson, and I have no idea why. He's a 40 goal scorer center on a $7 mil AAV contract. Kevyn Adams would be out of his mind to accept a trade for him.
