  1. I am Canadian and I hopped Panther Wins, so tired of McDavid and how many goals has he gotten this series what ONE yeah he so good i really hope they lose

  2. Fun stats so far … (Expanded Edition!)

    Goaltending:

Bobrovsky is 15-5-2 this playoffs, with a 2.26 GAA and .912 SV% on 592 shots taken, while playing every game, and weathering 372 minutes of shorthanded play.

Skinner and Captain Pickard have combined for a 14-6-1 (just one fewer win, with one extra OT loss — not that it matters in the playoffs if you lose in regulation or overtime). Combined 3.24 GAA and .889 save percentage on 596 shots against (only 4 more than faced by Bob), while only playing shorthanded for 240 minutes [60% fewer minutes than Bob!*].

    * “But the Ref’s are favoring Florida!! 😭” 🤣🤣🤣

    Plus Minus:

Brad Marchand has “just” 10 goals and 20 total points in these playoffs, but is a stellar +18!

    McJesus has only 7 goals, yet has a league-leading 33 points … and is ONLY a +7!! 😂

The Oilers top three in +/- are each +10. Four Panthers have a +/- exceeding +10:

    Marchand & Lundell, +18
    Jones, +12
    Luostarinen, +11

Oilers have 14 players +4 or below.
The Panthers have 14 players +4 and above (combined + 121).
    The Oiler’s top-14 +/- are a combined +90.
Their whole team is a +102 — Not too shabby … but not Cat territory:
The Panthers’ team is a combined +125. (This is blemished by Greer and Sturm’s combined – 5; the only two negative +/- players still alive in these Cup Finals).

    Marchy:

Brad Marchand has the most goals in a single Stanley Cup Finals since WAYNE GRETSKY scored 7 in 1985’s finals — 40 freaking years ago. He’s got 6 thru 5 games.
One more will put him (with Gretsky and Bossey) above every skater in the past 70 years. Two more; every skater in 103 years.

A hat trick in Tuesday night’s Cup Clinching Win (and he was soooo close to having one last night — I wouldn’t put it past him!!) will match the record for most Cup Finals goals by a single player in a single Finals series in NHL history.

(His now 13 career goals in the Cup Finals is more than any other active player. He’s also the first player in history to score 5 or more goals in the Cup Finals for two or more different teams.)

    Benny:

Bennett … Sam F’n Bennett … is currently tied with ALEX OVECHKIN and SIDNEY CROSBY for 2nd place in the tally of most goals (15) in a single playoff season among active players — and only one goal away from first place (Zach Hyman scored 16 last year — but only managed 5 this year, thru game 4 of the WCF) … and only two more goals from soul possession of the NHL record among active players.

Getting fanciful here… But… A hat-trick back home will move him into 2nd-place all time (with some guy named Joe Sakic) and, if he finds yet another gear and manages 4 (if the series goes to seven, perhaps) … he has the potential to tie the likes of Jari Kurri (1985) and Reggie Leach (1976) for the outright NHL all-time record. I wouldn't rule it out!

Re: Absence of McJesus, Credit due Draisaitl

Credit where due, the Panthers have been smothering them … and when they do get through, Bob’s been putting on a clinic.

Drai has scored a trio of critical goals in the finals — the first goal of game 1, and the OT winners of both games 1 and 4 (the Oiler’s only wins in the series so far).

He also scored twice in game 2’s loss, but failed to score in the losses of both games 3 and 5 — not even making the scoresheet in game 3’s 6-1 beatdown. He’s a – 3 for the series.

McJesus only scored one late, meaningless goal (that Reinhardt negated 46 seconds later with a goal of his own), in a 2-5 losing effort. He’s also a – 3 for the series.

    Re: Corey Perry

Perry is a beast. 6 Finals appearances in his career — with 5 different teams — and the last five all in the past six seasons??! He knows what it takes to win. HE’s played as many playoff games since 2000 as both the teams in this year’s finals, COMBINED. And he didn’t even join the league till 2005!!

Still, he won the Cup early, when he wasn’t yet a leader, and he’s lost every finals since. He lost in consecutive seasons to Tampa Bay on two different teams … so he did the sensible thing and joined the three-time champs the next season. And went all the way to the finals for a third year in a row. With the team that had beaten him twice in a row, to win two consecutive Stanley Cups. And then, the Lightning (with Perry) did the unthinkable — they lost.

    Ouch. 🤕

But no worries — just two years later, he was back — on another great team. And lost. Again!! 😭

Does he truly know what it takes to win THAT FINAL SERIES? Maybe it was his teams — no one can win the cup on their own — not even Gretzky. The Lightning lost a step in their third straight finals appearance. But maybe, just maybe, Perry can lead the Oilers — and all of Canada — back to the promised land, this year.

[Patrick Maroon had better timing: he won the Cup with the Blues in 2019, THEN moved to the Lightning, and won TWO MORE CUPS in as many years. If only he’d had the foresight to move to the Avalanche for the 2022 season!]

I wasn’t paying attention to Perry during those previous finals, but I’ve certainly been watching him in this one.

He’s currently second on the team in 2025 playoff goals — just one behind Draisaitl; and three ahead of McJesus. His goals are coming at opportune times; as are his assist, such as on one of Drai’s OT winners.

And he’s a pest. Much like Marchy (a fellow thriving fossil), and, to a lesser extent, Bennett, he can be a brute — yet he’s a brute who can force magic into a puck when the chips are down.

He’s PLAYING like he knows how to win. But he needs more help. Will Conner McDavid finally step up and assert himself in this series? He’d better!! Or he and his team might be playing golf on Wednesday.

  3. They can keep repeating who the best NHL player is..I'm not buying it!
    Go Panthers! 💯🥰 💪 ❣❣

  4. Gretzky is embarrassed for the Oilers. He said before the series started that the Oilers were a stronger team, more physical. Unless a miracle happens, they look pretty weak to me. Coach can't even count on either goalie. Neither one is playoff caliber

  5. Florida, the Sunshine State has 2 teams winning Stanley Cups. This is a travesty for all Canadian hockey fans. Oilers were our only hope. Hope fading fast

  6. McToodarnexpensive……1 goal…..when they are down 3-1 in the third during the 5th GAME…….

    Marchand…….6 goals.

Stop with the greatest player ever crap…….mcdavid is fast. Thats it.

Its like taking Donovan Bailey and making him a football player based on speed only.

    Not even top 10

  7. I am from old time Red Wing country.

Skating coordination and puck control will.bring the Cup to Florida ! Nice to see Uncle Wayne G. on ESPN as a commentator .

  8. Florida went out and strengthened their group with two impactful players, plus they know how to win. What have Edmonton done to increase their chances of winning this year, not so much?! I’d love to see Canada beat US aye, but from where, who, how?

  9. (Oilers Fan) They just seem inconsistent and shaky at times. That's just not something you can get away with in the finals. If we win this, it will be by luck. Considering these 2 teams right now, i estimate Florida would win 6-7 out of 10 7-game-series. Hats off to the panthers. Honestly, they're damn near perfect.

/edit: Also, it's just frustating how we leave skinner/pickard out to dry sometimes. The D is so sloppy at times.
