UFC Fighters “Explain” Just How Good is Tom Aspinall ?

UFC Fighters “Explain” Just How Good is Tom Aspinall ?

I don’t view Jones even if he fights CPE I don’t think he’s gonna fight asol I think he’s either going to retire or he goes after Alex uh Pera just because I know that’s um a money fight I get it get your money but yeah I don’t I don’t see him ever fighting like a legitimate young scary heavyweight John’s the Undisputed champion but I’m the best in the world if that makes any sense we know we know what John’s doing John John was also saying John John was there crossing his fingers and toes tonight hoping that I’d lose to Curtis let’s not [ __ ] about it like he put he posted about it loads anyway that I’m going to lose to him uh yeah that that didn’t happen so um that’s the fight I won next as far as these younger fighters um I look at guys like uh Aspen dude they’re amazing don’t get me wrong these guys are amazing there star your people in the in the first round um and then Tom aspadol I really wanted I think he has the potential to do something really special in the heavyweight division um I think he’s going to be hard for the majority of guys to beat I really do believe that I’m not going to get crazy because Jon Jones is man A fighting machine bro and he’s so much smarter than people give him credit for and he’s seen everything but I believe this would be a new challenge and a challenge that I don’t know that he’s ever seen before because of the size of Tom Aspen it’s amazing it’s amazing the idea of what could potentially happen Jon Jones you know has a very high fight IQ he he knows what Aspen’s got what he’s about um I think that we’re going to have to see what happens with this fight with Stipe see where Jon’s head is or if Stipe wins see where his head is and let’s see what they want to do to you know good Champion D great Champion he’s tough he’s up and I mean like not up andom but like you know Young and hungry and I mean yeah I mean we’ll get to that Ro when we have to I think he just put Jon Jones on notice the heavyweight division on notice put the whole UFC on notice because that man right there the way that he’s winning fights the way he’s taking people out of there people should look at Tom the way that he’s performing the way that he’s delivering finishes and that should Inspire that know Michael Bisping as I said all week was not putting Tom Aspen all over and suggesting he will go down as the greatest MMA heavyweight of all time because they’re boys or because they’re both from England he’s doing it because of what the film tells him and you know the film makes me want to lean into a lot of those superlatives the reason I was hyping him up before is because what he’s capable of what his father’s done to him he’s molded him he gave up his job 18 years ago to train Tom aspo for these moments right and when you look at the way he moves when you look at the speed of the man the man hits as hard as Francis inaru probably granted we don’t know if he’s quite as hard as the Ford Escort going 80 M hour it was hard enough to drop margan Tha Bor hard enough to drop Sergey pavlovich probably hard enough to drop any heavyweight on the planet and then you combine the wrestling the jiujitsu the footwork the speed the agility the mental acum and the fight IQ you put it all together and we’ve got a real problem on our hands guys if you’re in the heavyweight division woo baby you better watch yourself cuz Tomas is going to be ruling the roost for quite some time now he still has so much more to learn and improve on like uh from an athletic perspective he’s an unusual heavyweight he moves like an absolute cat this is a giant cat that knows how to move his feet he knows how a counter and to make matters worse Aspen can get you on the ground as well he’s good everywhere man this is this is a new breed of heavyweight there’s no question about it I still think he’s got to hide that chin a little bit more move that head a little bit more and if he does that uh he’s going to have that belt until he damn retires like that’s how good he is that’s how much potential he is um he’s a rarity in this sport I mean listen whenever you get a heavyweight champion from anywhere you know what I mean outside the country it’s a big deal and uh to have a heavyweight champion in the UK who is a bad dude and legit and everybody around him claims that he’s he he’s he’s that good and uh he’s a great guy guy great personality don’t know I’m very friendly so I’m not sure very very nice man and friendly but uh I think when when that octagon door closes I can do things that other heavyweights can’t simple as that simple and that as that my my mind is so different and I see shots that other people don’t see I make decisions that other people can’t make and you might look on the outside and think ah this guy’s got holes in his game but let’s you jump in and let’s have a goal and see how he get on uh Thomas is quick he’s a very fast heavyweight he’s very well-rounded he’s been training his entire life um but his coach and his father have had had him in their training with they say he’s got the speed of a Welter away he’s always trained with lighter guys he’s able to control his power and that’s why he gets like so many knockouts he uses his technique he uses his speed but like you said like he does move like when I think you touched on if you just touched on then moves like a welterweight I can see that like I mean he’s that Expos he’s in and out his speed his timing everything’s incredible that’s why I think he’s one of the most well round probably one of the best heavyweights in the UFC yeah so obviously what we’ve seen of him is great but I hear even better things about him I mean I hear in the gym this guy is an absolute Beast he he kicks the [ __ ] out of everybody um and uh the people who surround him and know him well really believe in this guy so um obviously what he’s shown us so far has been unbelievable I can’t wait to see what’s next Tom’s just too fast for these heavyweights lad like that one two and then hook back hand was just and heavyweights don’t move that fast and he moves like a middleweight this is no disrespect to St at all but who really cares about 42y old Stipe who’s not fought for three or four years coming back and fighting Jon Jones you know what I mean I I just knocked out the scariest guy in the UFC in a minute like what why I know that it’s like a big respect thing like St is the greatest um heavyweight ever and Jon Jones is arguably the greatest MMA fighter ever but I get that I completely get it but it’s also about relevance it’s also about excitement it’s also about what puts people in seats what B what people are going to buy pay-per-views and I’m more exciting than anybody right now and I deserve a shot I’m the Champion Jon Jones is the champion I’m not I’m not saying that he’s not but I’m a champion as well and STP is this is no disrespect to St all I’m a massive fan of his but Stipe at this point is a guy that hasn’t fought for three years and coming off a loss we cannot take the UFC at their current plan which is to hold Tom out in the prime of his career so two guys that are supposedly retiring can fight in a best case scenario in 10 months from now like one something in that plan has to change you know this is the start this is the start of an epic run of course there’s Jon Jones of course there’s step mic and they will be tough fights right or maybe not I guess time will tell but outside of them two and you never know if that that fight is going to materialize but outside of them two I genuinely do not see anybody in the heavyweight division giving him a a problem anytime soon he can knock anybody out he can take anybody down and he can submit probably all of them as well he literally is the heavyweight George St Pierre and he’s got a he’s got a bag of tricks he really does have a b bag of tricks and you don’t know what is that he’s going to pull out next he fakes he faints he sets trap he understands distance he will counter people off their L kicks which something that he loves he submits people I mean this dude is like he’s kind of like the heavyweight division uh you know Demetrius Johnson man we’ll say uh maybe uh St Pierre with even better technique with even swifter striking I’m going tell you one thing man you you want a heavyweight champion that looks like Tom Aspen like one of the strongest and baddest men on the planet there is no denying that when Tom Aspen walks into a room you think that’s a bad dude and he’s proven it time and time again he is so gifted so well-rounded that he really does look to be the future of the heavyweight division he’s phenomenal this guy stand looks like the lineal heavyweight champion the world I understand he’s the interim John’s only fought one at the weight class Tom aspo has beaten everybody every time he stepped in the octagon and he’s getting more and more dominant every time he steps in there this guy is the real deal and he is again the next ad the the next advancement of the evolution of the sport because he can do everything that guy’s got Elite jiujitsu he’s got Elite takedowns his striking is outstanding I mean he knocked out Sergey who’s the scariest striker in all of MMA and he knocked him out in the first round and the way he did it was just picture perfect on the contrary to what Jon Jones Fanboys might think I have nothing against Jon Jones as a person I think I’m the best heavyweight in the world and if he thinks he’s in the heavyweight best heavyweight in the world let’s settle it simple as that it’s not rocket science there’s two guys who are claiming to be the best heavyweight in the world let’s settle it simple as that [Music]

Tom Aspinall will be the backup for the Jon Jones-Stipe Miocic fight. The UFC interim heavyweight champion was on a mission and he surely did accomplish the same at UFC 304. Being denied a shot at the undisputed title for a long time, UFC 304 was Aspinall’s way of justifying his credibility. And boy oh boy what a way to do that. Jon Jones reacted to Tom Aspinall’s callout. Sort of.
Aspinall successfully defended his interim heavyweight title with a 60-second knockout of Curtis Blaydes in the co-main event of UFC 304 on Saturday night in Manchester. Following the victory, Aspinall called for a unification bout with Jones, who defeated Ciryl Gane in March 2023 at UFC 285 to win the vacant UFC heavyweight title.

On Sunday, “Bones” gave his first public reaction to Aspinall’s comments.

Jones is expected to make his first title defense later this year against Stipe Miocic, a matchup UFC CEO Dana White is steadfast in wanting to happen, despite the majority of the community hoping UFC switches gears to Jones vs. Aspinall. The former light heavyweight champ has teased retirement, and even has been setting up a fight with current 205-pound titleholder Alex Pereira over the past several months.

  1. Jones already knows the outcome of fighting aspinal and he's trying to preserve the false record and the loss of this fight,

  2. People don't underestimate Jon Jones, Jon Jones is not your regular Joe or your regular HW Champion. Jones will win even this fight I'm certain, if he trains at this pace there's levels to this and Jones is still a few years ahead I'd say.

  3. They are both intern champions. Don’t know why Jon’s thinks he’s the champ. They must fight for a real championship.

  4. The way they’re playing this out. Totally sucks for Aspen. All he should be racking up title defenses right now.

  5. funny is all the things they say about aspinal is they all say it also with jones years ago. now everybody wishes jones to go down that is why they always look for someone who can beat jones. but u know what, even if he beats oldman jones? he will never reach what jones had reach. so it is not a record to cherish if he beats jones. and in the flip side of the coin, he will look like elementary if jones beat him.

  6. what exactly does he have to learn? hes smokin everyone. its not his fault no one good enough to take him to 5 rounds including jon jones. he will smoke jones in 2 rounds

  7. I think Jones can beat him, but I hope Tom wins if he gets the chance, but ive never seen Jones quit a fight to an injury, he knows that means an L one way or the other injury or not.

  8. Someone broke down the frame data and analyzed how he moves and by using frames and math discovered he moves like a featherweight not a welterweight look up Tom aspinall frame data

  9. If jones gets knocked out in the first round (high degree of possibility) his "legacy" is bookended with a monumental fall from grace. Coupled with the not wanting to fight Nganou and then arranging a Stipe fight that only he wanted, once the dust settled hindsight will probably tell us all that Jones was the best 205er, not the best pound for pound.
