Damon Hill vs Jaques Villeneuve Australian Grand Prix 1996

One of F1’s greatest ever battles between Britain’s Damon Hill and his Williams team mate Jaques Villeneuve of Canada, who is making his F1 debut at the 1996 Australian Grand Prix

  1. Notice how Villeneuve's rear spoiler was immaculate whilst Hill's was dirty. That's because Villeneuve took the lead of the race at the very start and stayed there until he was instructed from Williams to give way to Hill. What a debut!

  2. Today's F1 fans will never know that Villeneuve once was a real racer. Today he's just a joke who says negative things about F1 all day long

  3. The off and on save by Jaques while maintaining the lead with Damon on his tail, reminds me of another Villeneuve. What does it take? To quote another great driver and World Champion, James Hunt, “BIG BALLS!!” 🎱🎱

  4. Are Jolyon and Jonathan Palmer the only father son combo that were drivers who turned commentators?

  5. i know the cars were still very slow due to 1994, but damn, they look slow too.
1997 was a big leap already with Jacques pole time some 3 seconds faster.
