Dudes basically gotta carry his partner, unless its Edvinson. My biggest problem with Mo, is he NEEDS to learn how to skate backwards, without blowing a tire.
The Norris leans heavily on points. Seider won’t reach those point totals. He’s a 60 point ceiling guy. And honestly if the redwings could take a penalty he would probably still be a wrecking ball. Can only play at 90% tho. U can’t play at your potential if you’re scared to take a penalty. I think this year will see improvements there with an offseason with McClellans coaching style. Lalonde was just horrible.
Seider would win the Norris trophy if the Norris trophy was awarded to best DEFENSIVE defenseman, which it isn’t. The NHL needs a separate award as there is no award for best defensive defenseman.
Why people think MO is a #1 dman is beyond me. Don't get me wrong, he is a great player… I think by far the best on the team. Just for those that don't know, #1 dman is a position/job description… it is not just your best player. A #1 dman is the dman that the offense flows through. While he has plenty of offense, it does not flow through him. He is behind the net hitting people… he is down on the ice blocking shots… he is doing all the things that make a great defenseman. Those things are not conducive to the flow of the offensive game. I look at MO as the modern day Brad McCrimmon, who I think was an incredible championship defenseman. He had plenty of offense, defensive, tough… all of it. But he was not a #1. And what do you do with a Brad McCrimmon? You pair him with a Mark Howe. Let me also remind you, Larry Robinson was by far the best defenseman on EVERY team he ever played on… Noone would call him a #1 defenseman. The Wings need a #1 dman to pair with MO, and work ASP in alongside Simon to act as a second #1 type.
HIs stats have always been shaded as he is out there during empty net situations and other situations that go against his plus minus. If Detroit on the right side of the empty net balance, his numbers would look significantly better.
Norris is whoever gets the most points , it’s an offensive award at this point .
Once the redwings get all their core prospects on the team they’ll start winning rewards including seider bet money on it,these people don’t know what they’re talking about
I traded him pretty well straight across for Andersson Calgary after the first month both are good probably better together… Werenski had himself a season to make Sieder look pedestrian…
Norris Trophy is a joke absolutly not any credibility since giving votes to Hutson who cant defend to save his life and 0 to Seider who's an absolute beast facing the toughest deployment in the NHL.. What a Circus Show over there…
