I think head coach Chris is not really doing his job some of the players are not pulling their weight there's no desperation to win it's disappointing you have to work extra hard win sacrifice
After the first game of the series I was convinced the Oilers were the better team and I felt very confident. Now it's clear I couldn't have been more wrong. Florida IS the better team, there's no arguing anymore. It looks like big brother vs little brother out there playing. There are no excuses. Well I guess that would be if they could adjust the salary cap to taxes but that's never gonna happen. Panthers got Marchand and we got Trent Frederic… 😅 However with that said, it's not always the better team that wins in hockey, keep on believing! GO OILERS!

I was actually moved by what you said at the post-game fan reaction last night: “We’re a fan for a reason, and I doubt they’re going down like this ;)” Yes, this team just lost the glorious opportunity to go up 3-2 in this series at home, but there’s still a fourth win game to play for the Panthers, the Oilers could rest up and try to fight back who knows! I doubt they wouldn’t try their best to stay alive instead of going out sad so now they’ve earned my faith because of that! Thx Austin 😉

The Panthers are just that much better than every other team in the league. The Oilers do deserve to be the team to come out of the west. It’s still not close. This is the only team that can successfully stifle McDavid and Draisaitl. People keep asking where McDavid is instead of asking HOW the Panthers are able to keep stonewalling him at the blue line
This game 5 was a complete disaster and totally disapointing. But everybody talking trash about the Oilers is also so unfair… Every single game won by one team or the other seems to change drastically all opinions in the internet. One day, the Oilers win and they are brilliant, Knoblauch is the ultimate master of strategy, the depth of the team is awesome & unmatched, Pickard is God, etc etc. The next day, if the Oilers lose, they turn to be extremely worse than the Panthers (even in victories), they have no depth whatsoever, their goaltending is the worse humanity has ever witness, etc etc.
I know performance in game 5 was absolutely inacceptable but hey… it's one game. The Panthers can indeed win the cup next Tuesday and everything would be over. But the Oilers can play a great game in Sunrise and turn things around. The Oilers have been inconsistent during the whole regular season, but I have had great moments thanks to them. No matter what happens, I am more than happy to be an Oilers fan. Go Oilers!

Why did the oilers bring in Trent Frederic instead of Marchand man Frederic stinks in all situations and Marchand single handed won them the Toronto and most likely this series?

Yeah. It’s looking bleak. As fans, we do all we can. If the teams got it, hopefully we’ve helped. But at the end of the day, we’ve all been saying it: the team needs a bonafide quality starter in net, and a third line that doesn’t fold like a chair at the slightest hint of adversity.

This reminds me of the Dallas series, except the opposite. You get to a point where it becomes clear who the superior team is and the end result becomes inevitable. So unfortunately the Oilers just aren't good enough and will be a repeat of last year watching the other team hoist the cup in their own barn.

Like I've always said, it's easier coming back from a bad game than a good game that you happened to play well and lose.
If the Oilers need a refresh on how to win a hockey game, pull out the video of game 1.
Score first, score often, hit everyone on that ice wearing a Panthers sweater and keep it up all game.
Easier said then done. Oh, don't forget to stay away from stupid penalties and capitalize on the powerplay.
Also, there has been a lot of talk of how Florida has kept McDavid in check. To counter that, you put Kane and Frederic on the top line with McDavid. Two bruising forwards who can hurt you and one, Kane, who can score.
You bring back Kapanen and you put him on the second line with Draisaitl and Nugent-Hopkins
Third line, Janmark, Perry and Podkolzin.
Sit out Stecher and bring back Klingberg.
Skinner in goal.

No one deserves to win a championship. You earn it by proving how much you want it. Your boys are all oil and no fire. Doesn’t help that the Panthers have turned into a playoff juggernaut too.
Barkov doesn’t have points because he’s shutting down McDavid. Shutting down a player and playing a defensive role obviously implies you’re not going to produce as many points.

Oilers 33:51 minutes
You can chase the games with this team and taking penalty isn't always as an excuse for the opponent always scoring first.
I'm hard on Skinner for not being clutch in games, but yesterday was a perfect example that didn't necessarily matter if your defence is anemic.
I think they still will win the game 6, however I'm afraid about game 7, as it seems they don't do good when they start with a clean slate, it seems that they only do better if they sucked on the previous game.
The narrative of the 'unlikely' comeback in Florida then game 7 feels the romantic Mcdavid WAY!

Hey Austin, I want to commend you on your reslience as a fan while still being objective. I'm new to hockey (Started as a new fan last year) and it's refreshing to see.
As far as crying goes, I've seen my Alabama Crimson Tide win 6 national championships in my lifetime and I cried for every one.
I think it’s time to face reality. Edmonton just isn’t good enough. Their two wins came in overtime, and you could argue they would’ve lost those had they not had a lucky deflection and a DoG penalty.
plus mcdavid is getting shut down! marchand hs more goals then he does, hes making way less money who says that money buys winning the cup happiness, it doesnt not in this case! 1 day mcd might win it all, not now
i give up. the oilers could win, panthers could win, but at this point, impossible to say. not like old school hockey. now it seems whoever gets those lucky bounces wins. sad that you can now win the cup with lucky bounces, but thats how tight these teams are. so if you win the cup, did you really win, or were you just lucky? how many goal posts, how many missed ref calls, skinner or pickard? so many variables. but in the end, somebody will win. Florida adds seth jones and marchand, bowman/jackson/nicholson gut our team and no new goalie. thats gotta be a factor. No holloway, mcleod, foegle, broberg. if the oil lose again, these guys gotta be fired.
If I know anything about this team is that as soon as things feel hopeless, that’s when they feel confident to just go for it. Its almost like there’s nothing to lose now so they may as well just have a good game and maybe they win game 6. I don’t think they are capable of winning games when its even ground so game 7 will be a tough ask for them. But hey we can still steal florida’s home ice cup win

The amount of time the Oilers have lead in the series tells you all you need to know. You have #97 and #29, you don’t have a complete team, you’re actually lucky to get to back to back cups.
Hate to say it but Florida is in a league of their own. We can’t keep up with them. Most of the games we have been spotting them multiple goal leads and just chasing the play. No chance in hell we win game 6 and 7.
McDavid is looking average at best in the final.
