The Career of TJ Oshie

The master of the shootout, it’s a shame he missed to much time due to injuries.

  1. The thumbnail of his dad ripped at my heart strings. Of all the legends of the Ovi era, I don't know if there's a guy who was more of a "heart" guy than Osh. Great hockey player and maybe a better man.

  2. If memory serves, the Covid shortened season, not only did he remain healthy, but, I’m pretty sure the games he did miss were when his father passed, not injuries, and he returned with a multi-goal game. Dude was one of the most likable players

  3. Excellent video, love TJ Oshie on the Caps – that brawl against the Pens is still a highlight for me

  4. Wish you would have started at his college career. Played For North Dakota. Line was Oshie, Ryan Duncan, Centered by Toews. Best College line I have ever seen in person. Funny that in their final year together Duncan got the Hobbie Baker because Oshie and Toews played worlds that year.

Only lost in Frozen four twice to Boston College in epic games. All thanks to Corey Schneider playing on another level in goal. Still think the time ND and BC meat at the frozen four in St. Louis was the best game i saw. was something like 2-1 BC with 10 min left in the game. Final was 6-5 BC.

  5. Obviously I'm biased as a Caps fan, but you do wonder if Oshie deserves a slim shot at the hall of fame purely because of his S/O ability. I think most fans would agree that 2014 shootout is one of, if not THE most iconic shootouts when we talk about the format, and Oshie is the main character. If there is an argument to associate a format with a player, I think there is merit in itself.

  6. I just bought a Black Eagle Oshie Jersey a few days since the NHL had it on sale.

Happy I did, that cup run was great and am glad to have witnessed him play.

  7. I think I speak for Caps and blues fans, and perhaps hockey fans in general, by saying we will forever love TJ Oshie

  8. We followed TJ's career very closely, he was one of the few nhlers that came out of our home state of Washington. Even though TJ was in Seattle junior hockey for a short time, he had a big impact on the program. His picture remains to this day at sjha home rink. We hope he has a healthy retirement! 👍

  9. It says a lot when both Blues and Caps fans love him. Just try and get him out from the front of the net during a PP.

  10. As a little kid who started watching in the late 2000s, Oshie was one of the first players I remember truly being excited about. He was a fan-favorite and you can still see a lot of Oshie jerseys at Blues games.

  11. Huge Trumpie so I hate his guts now that's a non-negotiable for me, but man I loved him as a player. So strong on the puck, hard working, always moving those skates. He really feels like a small time legend in that regard. It's a shame in some ways

  12. I am a long time Caps season ticket holder. The Caps were simply a different and better team when he was in the lineup, and not just because he was a solid player, he brought something to the lineup that made everyone better.

  13. This guy is just pure class. On the ice, off the ice; everything he said and did, he did for the right reasons. As Shannon said, you'll never hear a negative word about him. Man, I'll miss him…

  14. As someone who fell in love with the NHL in 2013, Oshie comes to mind when I think Capitals, up there with Holtby, Carlson and of course Ovi. I have had no real reason to gravitate towards Washington and I typically more so dislike American players then like (not every American obviously just in general) but I have always been a Oshie fan, may he have a wonderful post NHL life.

  15. I think it would be fascinating to add an extra column for contract money earned that year. Then we could see performance based on money earned at that particular time in the players career with total earnings down the bottom. Would allow us to analyse players on a Cup winning team and give us who on that team was giving more bang for the buck. Think it might highlight some unsung 3rd and 4th liners when compared to the elite stars.

  16. Dad and I got a cat after the caps won the cap and named him Oshie. He passed due to a heart condition this year. Gonna miss you both Oshie

  17. As a Caps fan, Oshie will go down as one of the legends of DC. Heart and soul player that brought it every night. He was only 5'10" but he played like he was 6'2". For a small guy he was a great hitter, great battler on the boards, and just never backed down. He brought energy, excitement, and FUN every night. He'll be greatly missed and hes the kind of player thats very hard to replace
