If Marner was not paid as much no one would be criticizing him. He's a great player. The cap isn't his fault. The abuse he takes is disgusting. That's the problem with Leafs, the so-called "fans". Who would want to play in Toronto. Keep it up and it will be another sixty years with no Cup.

What you need to remember about Matthews is he signed for just over a $2 million dollar raise when he could have asked for much more. He seems to be a team first guy.

I don't have a problem keeping Mitch Marner or John Tavares. It's all about what kind of Return on Investment you're going to make. Nylander lead the team in scoring during the playoffs and his center, John Tavares, had like one even-strength assist. If Toronto pays JT 3rd line center/PP specialist money, it's a good deal. 2nd line center money? That might be a stretch.
JT a keeper. 2-3 years at 4-6 mil per. Had an exceptional Regular Season and can play the 2nd or 3rd line Center position, next Fall. Tre, needs to add players with stones, more size, toughness, and a WINNING attitude, for the Leafs to have a deep Playoff run!
Marner was always the Cancer. No personality or team heart. Babcock knew this 6 years ago. Leafs were done when they kept Marner over Babcock. Babs would have brought the cup if the 2 clowns Dubas and Shanahan listened to him.
