It’s funny listening to people who don’t understand who Sidney Crosby is.
Crosby doesn't want to be traded and he has a NMC. And he is a major profit generator for ownership. Trading all the supporting pieces like Rust, Rakell, and Karlsson is more than enough to tank. I do agree, they are just delaying the inevitable rebuild and will be having this convo in 2028 when Crosby retires, which might be what owners want.
The only reason to not trade Crosby would be
A: He wants to stay.
AND
B: You want to have him foster the next generation of players.
