The cap is going up and up every year. 7 years 7.5 – 8 M per year. By the end of his contract, the contract will not be that bad. it'll be like 4-5 M per year now.
Now imagine the Wings get Ekblad and Marner this off season.

Danielson and a 1st for Jarry, hell no. 😂 that'd be a terrible use of assets. Which round would you draft a Tristan Jarry in the draft?
Jarry and Rakell for Danielson a 1st and a 2nd? Are you crazy?
Jarry is not a premium goalie, he had a .893 save percentage last year, he was so bad he got put on waivers and sent to the AHL, and had a .908 save percentage there. He's making 5.375 million for 3 more years, that is one of the worst contracts in the NHL. Rakell is 32 years old, already past his prime and going to decline.
You don't see the fit for Danielson anywhere on this team? Struggle to find a role? He is a responsible defensive player who kills penalties, can play center or wing, you could literally play him anywhere in the lineup and he is perfect for bottom 6.
The most expendable prospect? The Center depth on their team is bad and they are lacking an elite center, the system is also lacking center prospects more than anything else, and you want to trade your NHL ready, 1# center prospect you picked 9th overall for two players over 30 who aren't centers? One of them being Jarry who is a cap dump.
Jarry contract is brutal and he's an AHL goalie, 5.375 million for 3 more years, even if the Penguins attached a 2nd round pick to him if would not be worth it for teams to take on that contract, it would take a lot to get rid of him, you would be doing the Penguins a huge favour.

There is a better chance to get Ekblad if they get someone else of note. Top 4 D is 3 sigma deviations the most important thing the Wings need this year.
I can see giving up Danielson…but 1st and 2nd is too high. More importantly, I have watched Cossa as well and the guy just does not move fluidly. He is too stiff and slow. I have said this from the first time I saw him in development camp
