The plan needs to be to get younger, bigger, grittier. They have a set of core ‘veterans’ (JT, Trochek, Fox, Igor) who are certainly part of the next few years. They are building a pretty good ‘bottom 6’ – Cuyle (who could be top 6), Edstrom, Othman, Rempe, Berrard, Parsinen. Gabe Perrault coming next year. Missing depth on D and 2-3 top six forwards. Hopefully Laffy can return to being one of those. Which then leaves big questions / issues with Panarin, Mika, Kreider. We shall see…
I'm definitely more upset about where the team has slipped to more than I am the trade. But listening to this has at least made me feel better for next season
The overpaid, underperforming stars are the problem.
Game after game Ryan Lindgrin took more shots on goal than any other Ranger but probably averaged on goal a year. I'll miss him, I'll miss Vesey's work ethic and energy.
List of available FA Defensemen this summer…Orlov 33, Gavrikov 29, Provorov 28, Jokiharju 25, Chychrun 26, Ceci 31, Klingberg 32, Maata 31, Fluery 28, Pionk 29, Ekblad 29. Anyone see anything here? Joki might the best move but Chychrun and Ekblad are going to cost too much and not be worth it. Our defense is going to be Fox and a bunch of bottom tier defenders. Vak and Borgen are garbage. Schneider hasn't had a positive year yet. Jones can't see the ice with Laviolette. I don't see much quality here and we traded away Mancini. Maybe I am just not seeing the plan here. Fox and Miller Borgen and ? Schneider and Vak? Can anyone tell me the plan here?
Win/Win for both teams. I live in CO but grew up in NY. Look forward to Lindgren turning it around with less playing time. Rangers got picks which is good. R. Smith is next, being held out tonight.

Just get rid of Reilly Smith… like the other 6 or 7 organizations discovered! Drury's worst trade!

Basically it comes down to Kempf for Parssinen, Lindgren for a 2nd and Vesey 4th. De Haan is basically a thrown and doesnt matter and same with the retention. In that sense it was a good trade. We have two salary retention slots left so I think we can and will use the cap space as a middle man.

It appears, from the Stats that I looked up, Calvin DeHaan is an OK Defensive Defenseman. If you have more info, please let me know. I don't know if you agree with me, but, it appears that The Rangers are Buying & Selling at the same time. I am thinking, without trying, Chris Drury is in A Retool. Let me know what you think
