On June 11, 2017, the Pittsburgh Penguins made NHL history.
They defeated the Nashville Predators 2–0 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final to become the first team in nearly 20 years to win back-to-back championships. After 58 minutes of scoreless hockey, former Predator Patric Hörnqvist scored the Cup-clinching goal with just 1:35 remaining. Carl Hagelin added an empty-netter to seal the deal.
Sidney Crosby was awarded his second straight Conn Smythe Trophy, joining an elite group of back-to-back playoff MVPs.
This win cemented the Penguins as a modern-day dynasty.
