I don't think there's much of a choice unless there is some crazy trade or signing. Need to slot Byfield as the #1C and give him everything he needs and see if he can make it work. When Kopitar goes, Doughty will likely get the C, but when they are both gone, I can see Mikey Anderson wearing it one day…

Simply put, I hope hes not ready because QB isnt ready for it yet. He is still only 23 and yes he has size and talent, but he is not experienced or mature enough to carry the torch yet. Carrying the torch in the NHL means trusting that player to always make the right decisions on and off the ice and the playoffs showed us he probably isn't there yet on the ice. Again his talent showed and its obvious, but on the other side of the puck, he needs some more time and experience and maturity. Theres nothing wrong with that either. Every 23 year old forward is still learning the 2 way game. Its up to his coach to know this and pick the right times and situations for his 23 year olds but don't get me starterd on that. Your video the other day asked if Hiller should have a short leash. Frankly he shouldn't have a leash at all because he shouldn't still be there. But anyway

I would take every pacific team’s top center over byfield
I sure hope the Kings don't waste ten mil $ on a 3rd line winger (Sam Bennett) who averages 16 goals and 17 assists per season. Yes, he does much better in the playoffs, but doesn't help you get there at that price. He was a ± -21 on a great team. How do you manage to do that?
Unless the Kings make a deep playoff run this year, Kopi is done. He seemed to make it pretty evident that he would retire after his contract was up. If I'm playing armchair coach/gm, QB takes over as C1 next year, bump Kopi and Danault down to 2 and 3 respectively, just to see how he handles that top line job. I'm signing Kuzi to a 3 yr if he'll take it to skate w/ Kempe and QB. Off season, I target someone like Bennett, not Marner. Doughty has 1 more year beyond Kopi, so he will probably get the C for his last year, after that I'd give it to Kempe. In my eyes, he or Mikey are the future long term captain of this team. Pay Gavrikov, by far the best defenceman we have. The team last year played well, I'm not making too many changes. They do need to figure themselves out as far as their third period play goes. Just my opinion on things.
