Damn I still remember watching this 10 years ago when I was 7 and how great this moment was watching it happen with my family.
A moment I will always remember. It's cool knowing that our whole country cheered at the exact same moment.
I always laugh when they show the reaction of the Canadian bench and Mike Babcock is just standing there. I bet he took the biggest sigh of relief in history!
This still gives me chills.

I'm from NC and I shoulda been pulling for USA seeing as I'm American as heck, but I was a Pens fan at the time and Sid was/is one of my heroes so I went nuts when he scored.

Despite the fact that Sidney Crosby has already established himself as a top 10 player of all time, and so many countless incredible moments in the NHL…. This is without a doubt the true defining moment of Sid’s legendary career.

Not the first, nor the last time Sid torched Ryan Miller like that. (Crosby beat Miller in the shootout to win the first Winter Classic two years earlier.) Right up there with Mario's Canada Cup winning goal vs. Russia in '87.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, but no qualms about rooting for Sid and the Canadians….or Geno and the Russians, for that matter.
I suppose it prepared me well for actively rooting against the American Women's Soccer team……you know, Team Activist and their obnoxious little blue haired mascot.
I was working at a retail store back then and when OT started we literally wheeled a tv out onto the floor abd everyone, customrrs and staff just stood there watching. There wa probably 50 people gathered around when crosby scored and the whole place erupted. It was insane haha
I still remember exactly where I was and what I did when the golden goal was scored.
