Jeff Skinner returns to the Edmonton Oilers lineup ahead of Game 4
yesterday Chris Knobblock said “We’re contemplating one lineup change.” Chris Knobblock ends up making two lineup changes for the Edmonton Oilers your forward line centrifuge subtrifuge yes he threw a little curveball in there did old Chris Knoblock um the lineup for the Edmonton Oilers tonight Conor McDavid on the top line with Ryan Nan Hopkins on his left side and on the right side it’ll be Connor Brown let’s kind of break this all down maybe line by line i like this i felt like the Oilers did not do a good enough job carrying the puck into the offensive zone that is a strength of theirs they are a puck possession team they do not like dumping and chasing and having to go that way conor Brown also doesn’t like dumping and chasing he moves well he’s got good hands he can carry the puck over the blue line and actually try to create some sustained offensive zone time with Conor McDavid on the ice i like the elevation for Conor Brown even though he’s not necessarily playing his best hockey right now yeah I think it’s good too because he’s somewhat similar to Heyman in a way isn’t So a bit of familiarity in a sense of style there for Nan Hopkins and uh McDavid so he’s not playing his best i thought last game was probably the best we’ve seen him play in the three so far since he came back from his injury so I like the elevation there and then obviously Jeff Skinner in on the third line too sorry I’m looking at BM who put a towel over his face to cover himself up so he can float in the pool um second line Kane Dryidle Kaanin couple of guys who can get in on the for check with Leon Dryidle don’t mind it i have fears defensively with that group i fear no one okay that’s the one line I look at i’m like I don’t know if there’s a lot of defense being played there but I got Selki candidate Leon he did he got one first place vote for um shout out to Elliot Freiedman so second line I maybe don’t love as much as the first line but I will also admit you know what like maybe having Clen there would have would have made me feel better than than Kappan but then you’re flip-flopping guys so it’s it’s not exactly the cleanest swap to uh to make third line Henrique with Frederick and Jeff Skinner is going to get into a Stanley Cup final game jeff Skinner has played two games in the playoffs jeff Skinner has two points in the Stanley Cup playoffs so you’re inserting a point-ame player into your lineup that sounds good to me let’s hope he can make it three games where he has a point in the playoff season he probably will he probably will it’s just the way it’s going to work he’s going to find a way i I like that line of He and Frederick too and Skinner just give him They’ve They struggled to create chances last game never mind scored score a goal so at least with Stuart Jeff Skinner sorry it’s CBM there’s an ability there to to put the puck in the back of the net yeah and listen like Victor Arbertson wasn’t bad and Victor Arbertton’s also a guy who can you know score he’s a one-shot scorer we saw it earlier in this series with the slap shot jeff Skinner just again I think gives you a little bit more of that puck possession game and I think that’s the adjustment here that Chris Knobblock is kind of going for it’s like we want to play with the puck if we’re in their zone it should hypothetically not that this was true last game it should lead to you taking less penalties it should lead to less tax and less stress on your goalender so again Jeff Skinner can be that puck possession guy for you on the third line excited to see what our boy Trent Frederick can do as well uh fourth line Yanmark Pod Coulson and Perry um like Yanmark hasn’t been bad obviously i’m not trying to say that he is i’d be curious to see how much Yanmark actually plays in this spot like I think early on you’ll see like Yanmark get a regular shift i wouldn’t be surprised like but Kohl’s and Imper are also two Leon Drytle line mates i think we might get a little bit of it’s moving around like Yeah if there’s one thing our lineup’s been it’s been fluid yeah totally i think we’ll see a lot of mixing and matching i wouldn’t be surprised even if and they did this last game Kane starts to get some shifts with uh with McDavid and Dry Cidle and that’s their load up but again they move Cory Perry down they move Connor Brown up and they’re inserting Jeff Skinner those are the changes on the forward group on the blue line liam it’s not often we get things right this is what we were asking for from the game matias at home returned i said “Why would you disrupt all your pairings or two of the three when you can only disrupt one of the three you put Koulak with Bard that works.” That had worked for a long time bob Staer pointed out he goes “Hey Brett Kulak plays better when he’s playing a heavy workload and he’s in the game.” Kulak and Bard were a legitimate legitimate top pairing nurse and Stcher that’s your nurse Whisperer we don’t have to explain it any more than that that pairing works so now you have third pairing that works it’s listed as the second pairing with Koulak and Bushard works you put Echol with Walman putting Ekholm with a puck mover has traditionally worked like I love the I think this is the only correct way for them to to put these pairs together yeah I do too and I know people will be worried about Jake Walman playing on his offside but he did that basically his entire career until he got to Edmonton but the whole time he was playing with Cider he was on the wrong side same thing when he was in San Jose on their top pairing as well like he’s more than comfortable playing there and I Yeah I really like these pairings too hopefully uh Ekholm and him can find some chemistry pretty quick flip them just flip them flip them we got to flip someone’s flipping something’s got to be flipped we got to flip what’s up nation citizens if you like that video then you need to be subscribed to the Oilers Nation YouTube podcast The Edmonton Oilers are making some key changes to their lineup ahead of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, with Troy Stecher and Jeff Skinner set to draw back in. Stecher will replace John Klingberg on the blue line, bringing more stability and responsible play in the defensive zone. Meanwhile, Jeff Skinner comes in up front for Viktor Arvidsson, adding some offensive punch.
Today, Tyler, Jay and Liam broke down the Oilers’ lineup adjustments, what Stecher and Skinner can bring to the table in this must-win game, and how these moves reflect the team’s depth and willingness to adapt with their season on the line.
What do you expect from Jeff Skinner in his return to the lineup?

I said this before and I'll say it again. When we had stetcher our defense was solid. The moment eckolm announced he was coming back I said keep him out we have a good thing going. If it ain't broke don't fix it…well we tried to fix it and now it's broken.
Swear to God I’ll trade Tyler to Calgary for an Oilers STANLEY CUP ❤… take one for the team Tyler 🙂 🎉
Hate to say it but so afraid with Skinner following that last game and a lack of leadership to change things for the 3rd. Permanent damage. Will be a gentlemen’s sweep or 2 wins most. We need to find a solution to our goalie situation.
I think Browner has been pretty hurtin' since the end of the second round, but it looked like he was feeling and moving better last game. I think he'll be flying tonight.
