Biggest mistake by Allvin and Rutherford besides giving skinny Pete huge money.
I think Allvin basically laid it out. Miller wants a cup and Vancouver is not a cup team. They are a business and making money is what they focus on. Selling season tickets, beer and jerseys is what they are about. Life time fan but i think i am just now realizing its never going to happen. Lots of excuses up until now. Sad.
Allvin is a total BS artist who is putting out his whitewashed version of the Miller-Petterson story to hide the real truth from the fans. Obviously for a totally dedicated hockey player like JT Miller, coming to the rink every day to play with Elias Petterson and knowing Petey was getting paid millions of dollars more than him and Quinn Hughes — and nowhere near as productive or as dedicated — obviously created a lot of resentment. Is there anything more ridiculous than the Petterson contract? Connor McDavid — $12.5 million annual. Elias Petterson —- $11.6 million annual. JT Miller — $8.5 million annual. Quinn Hughes — $7.85 annual. ???? Sorry but I know BS when I hear it and I see it. If you are Quinn Hughes, why would you stick around when you can go somewhere else and make a hell of a lot more?

Apparently JT got up and threatened Rick Tocchet. That's unacceptable. I wish they hadn't protected him and just told us what his "leave of absence" was about. Everyone calls EP40 a baby in this silly market, but who needed a timeout because he couldn't handle a guy not listening to him? Say what you want about Pettersson's play, he wasn't late for practice, he played in every game and at the very least was solid defensively. That doesn't excuse 50-something points for 11.6M, but it's clear who the problem was and they got rid of him.

This explanation makes your decision sound even worse… just come outright and say that JT crossed some sort of professional boundary, and that's why you had to move on. NYR should also have had to respond with their justification for accepting a player that broke a code of conduct.

If, despite all the praise from Alvin in this clip, JT was the one who was moved, it should tell you something about the mood in the locker room. All of those positive qualities Alvin spelled out about JT appears to say he’s a team guy who wants to win, but the reality is those types of guys don’t really give a puck about anyone except themselves. Like Alvin said, JT wanted a ring for himself. That may sound like his goals should be aligned with the team’s, but when personal ambition is the actual goal, then it has a way of distorting the team goals, like being super toxic to your own teammmates instead of trying to get the best out of everyone. JT was a force, but there’s no excuse for that kind of behavior at work. It’s good that he’s gone.

No. This is complete BS. JT Miller was not prepared enough. He is tipping almost 220 lbs on the scale while there are other players between 8-15% body fat. He never back checks, is overbearing, is 0.8 points per game AND also failed to take NY Rangers to a play off. His career is not done, but he needed to tone down, take a pay cut and continue with Canucks as a 2-3 rd energy liner. Period.
This guy can flap his gums all he wants.. miller signed a multi-year contract knowing the rift was there. And then couldn't get along with his teammate and had to be traded and we're just supposed to respect that because he's a good guy and this and that know he screwed our team by signing that contract and then acting like a baby. Yeah with all those Millions it was so hard for him
I think Allvin and Rutherford should should shut the hell up on this! It's already been discussed to death. Rutherford keeps opening his yap about Quinn Hughes as well, just adding more fuel to the fire unnecessarily. The bottom line is the Canucks are too easy to play against, they definitely need to get bigger and tougher! Someone should remind the Canucks management team that there are some decent players from Canada, not just Sweden and the USA.

EP40 held out with a smug attitude, got a huge contract and then took a dump. Instead of using the summer to get back on track, he comes to camp unprepared. A committed player like JT must’ve been pissed. Especially when HE gets benched.
