In this video, I talk about how the Abbotsford Canucks went from a .500 team at midseason to a legit contender in the Calder Cup playoffs. They just did something no Vancouver-affiliated AHL team has done in 10 years, and it came after an absolutely wild Game 6 win over the Texas Stars. From Sammy Blais doing Sammy Blais things to local kids stepping up with clutch goals, the Baby Canucks are rolling.
I recap the entire playoff run so far (including their series wins over the Tucson Roadrunners, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the Colorado Eagles, and now Texas) and break down how they pulled off a comeback for the ages last night. Šilovs was huge, Sasson was money, and Abbotsford is officially four wins away from a Calder Cup.

I absolutely love the AHL. I have just as much fun following my teams there as I do for NHL, I'm lucky enough to live in Grand Rapids and games are always fun here. Except the fanbase is kinda dumb they do things like boo when a player from the other team appears injured and then gets up (most fanbases are classy and clap instead) but we have tons of fun here.

Ya they just got past my Colorado Eagles 3-2. Granted you killed us in game 5 but were very fortunate to get us in OT in game 3-I think it was. But any team in the Stars organization is used to deep playoff runs granted but losing in WCFs-lol. Stars definitely own my AVS right now BUT NO CUPS THIS CENTURY STARS! And we still won in 2022.
Same for you Cunucks-except no Cups EVER for you,& you haven't even had a very recent deep run(WCF at least)-so good luck in Calder Cup Finals cuz the real Canucks shouldn't be making any Finals trips any time soon. Especially after Hughes demands to be traded,& if you guys are actually still counting on underachieving,& soft as charmin Petey to be a franchise center.
I don't know if the Abby Canucks are the best team, but they certainly know how to find a way to win. Which is what you need. They adapted especially to Colorado and Texas to find the wins. Blais is a wrecking ball on the ice, and Silovs should be Vancouver's goalie of the future. A bunch of these guys deserve to be at the NHL level, none more than Sasson. What a game that was the other night. Can't wait to see what happens in the Calder Cup finals.
